    Bobcat 1987 model 743

I thought I didn't have aux hyd on my 743 but turns out I did . A bolt was locking it from moving L & R. if my knee accidently pushed it. Lift seat ( cab) to see if at bottom of R. hydro lever has a bolt in aux valve.

Bobcat 632 hard to start when hot

Starting cold , not when warm reminds me of of a couple jobs that a new coil fixed. Coil was on its way out but worked cold. Could prove that by checking spark when it won't start. Another amateur fix was clean carb and float. Use carb cleaner to shine float .Make sure the float pin is...

Bobcat 743 - Starts then dies

Oh , I was taught it's either spark or gas . Gas was covered , I'd like to add one thing I've found on the spark problem . Use a test light grounded to a good bolt or right to the battery. Test the +coil wire going into the distributor. If it test lights up on the hot side of the points , but...

742B starts then dies after 20 or 30 minutes

There's a lot of good advice here , I didn't know I had a fuel shut off solenoid , I'm guessing that's the part hanging on the old gas line - ha ! Shouldn't the needle and seat keep the gas from siphoning through the carb if it's good ? I've worked on 2 of those plastic suction tubes and...

Bobcat 743 - Starts then dies

I just had similar problem last winter after boys ran it out of fuel . Primer bulbs suck in cold weather , especially when they are mounted where you can't reach them. I believe book said open bleeder on filter first and prime. I gave up on bulb and used air hose in tank to get good fuel volume...

    Bobcat 632

Try replacing bronze hydraulic filter in port block including the new neoprene seal ( may come with or need to order separate). I had every symptom you mentioned , did everything you mentioned , including washing the bronze filter but no success. There's a rubber seal that ages &...

    Bobcat 632 engine

I had a rod go through block 15 or so years ago . Found the 1.6 ford in a salvage yard from a 70 or 80 something Ford Pinto. Bobcat calls it " Indusrial 1.6". Mechanic that rebuilt it for me before installing had no idea what was different about " Industrial 1.6". Turned out it wouldn't...

    Bobcat 743 stalling when turning

(comment about suction screen inside of a fuel or gas tank ) I grew up with mostly sediment bowels under a gas tank . It was the operators job to check that every day along with oil & water etc. Now , I guess , with a screen in the tank , the designers want condensation , debris , rust , or...

    Oil in crankcase V1702

I have a 743 w the V1702 diesel , I have 3 frost plugs on R . side of block . Am hoping to get a block heater installed some day. I'm sorry to hear of a frost plug under timing gear. Water pump pressure would only leak at around 5# s of pressure. Head gasket leak would be 150 #s or more until...

    No heat bobcat 753

I've been thinking of putting heater in my 732b, Not much room for blower , and need to find right place on motor to get good flow. Need good pressure on hose going to bottom inlet of heater core .. That prevents heater core from airlocking , air goes up , to top hose fitting , or return...

    Half-abandonded bobcat 632 not running

I'm a year behind on this conversation , but if it helps anyone , great . My know how came from old school - it's either gas or spark. it's a process of elimination to figure out which. I've had spark at the coil but not at points . Wire was broke inside rubber grommet going through bottom of...

Bobcat 742b. Its got the Mitsubishi 4G32 engine

I agree , I feel the original pickup hose in tank should be replaced with steel pipe , such as brakeline pipe . With a proper pipe bending tool you could get as close to gas pump as you wish ., just save room for a fuel filter of your choice. I don't believe I'm the only one driving 40 year old...
