Just curious, should I ever need to rebuild my hydrostatic drive, who and how much would this set me back. Is there a rebuild kit?.
Thanks

Is this a universal drive or is it manufactured for bobcat only?, is there a kit available?.

My Vickers pump is a common part available in many different machines/configurations I would think that most of the pumps are the same(in many machines/configurations) you could look for the pump manufacturer online and see what is available from them.Or contact your"local"hydraulic shop and ask them what they know As far as a kit there are a lot of parts that can/could wear out several of which are costly,so a one size fits all kit most likely...no Are you having trouble or just wondering? Routine Maintenance is worth every penny.....Jeff

As far as i'm aware, Bobcat do not build any pumps or motors for their machines. They use brand name pumps and motors like eaton/vickers plus others. They do build their own control blocks which parts are available for too.
Unfortunately even though the pumps and motors are available aftermarket they are still pricey to repair. Like Jeff said, you can some times repair the pumps your self without costing very much.

No problems, just curious because a friend has an 863 with an awful grinding sound when turning. So 'vickers' is the company that manufactures the drive?.

I don't know about every pump or motor but have run into many of the Bobcat products that are not direct replacements while trying to beat the OEM game , for instance a swing motor for an excavator that cracked the housing and tore up the shaft is made by Vickers and could be had at the time for $600 , everything is identical except the sline on the output shaft is different , the cost of the shaft alone from Bobcat was more than the cost of the whole pump , found tmes where everything was the same but the porting or mounting flanges , seems they are famous fro making something a little different --------------------on your friends grinding sound when turning , did he jack it off the ground and check the axle bearings , I did all four wheels on both a S 160 and a 773 this week , you couldn't feel or hear a problem going straight but when turning it sounded like it was falling apart , maybe turning could put the Sunstrand in more of a bind and may a noise but I would think you would hear grinding when turning and when going straight if the Sunstrand was going out

I'm not sure what pump(s) they run. Vickers/eaton are a quality product but charlyn sunstrand are also quality gear. No matter what they run they will be available after market. As Fishfiles said, the shafts may be different but the internals of the pump or motor will be exactly the same.

Is there a rebuild schematic, kit or something to go by?.

Thanks

If you don't have a parts book or service manuel , You can call your local Bobcat dealer and ask them to fax you a parts print out of the part in question and they will most probally do it as the dealer here will

My dealer will happily fax me parts break downs too. Failing that, you may want to pick up a service manual. They generally cover ALL the parts. If its a eaton/vickers pump they have PDF maunals listed that show an exploded view and installation instructions, they are very detailed. They can be a little hard to find, but they are there.
