OK, here is another question......
While working my engine started 'starving for fuel', I managed to remove the fuel pickup tube and the screen was coated in trash, I decided to remove gas tank and give it a good cleaning. I've unhooked everything and ready to remove, can I use a regular engine hoist?, I saw in the service manual a drawing for an adapter to remove engine, is this necessary?.
Any other tips-tricks will be most welcome.
I will never buy another used skidsteer.....
Thanks in advance,

Perry

As long as it can handle the weight, i see no reason why an engine hoist wouldn't do the trick. Remember the engine in your machine would weigh in the order of 500KG, you don't need it to be so heavy and unstable to tip and cause damage to you or the engine.
The sludge you speak of, i think its fairly common.... my 743 had this too. A bit of de-greaser and a pressure washer fixed that. My fuel tank was easy to gain access to though, unlike these newer machines.

I really don't know for sure, but my kubota V1702 weighs in the order of 300KG with the fly wheel attached and mine puts out about 34 HP yours is 58 HP so the engine would obviously be larger and heavier. It was really just a guesstimate. You may be able to look it up on the net to find out exactly what it weighs.

You don't have to take out the tank to clean it out , there is a plug in th bottom of the tank and when you go back be sure to up grade the pick up tube as they don't use the screen any more in the tank or the soft plastic tubing

Fishfiles, I went to BC yesterday and picked up the clear tube, screen and sending unit, they didn't say anything about an 'upgrade kit'.
Can you give me a description of what's in the 'upgrade' kit?.
I pulled the lower plug, drained the tank and removed the fill tube and screen, I'm not sure how to clean the tank other than sticking my pressure washer down the fill tube or, from the bottom through the drain?. Have you cleaned yours?.
Thanks

Fishfiles, just talked to BC about a fuel line 'upgrade' for my 853, he said the only upgrade he was aware of was, a kit to replace the rubber lines between the injectors with steel lines.
He was not aware of any fuel line, pick up, filter upgrade.
I wouldn't be surprised they don't know, I've had my problems with their parts counter people.....

It's not really a kit , it's an upgrade of the pickup tube , the old style pick up tube was clear soft plastic tubing that was similiar to aquarium tubing with a screen on the end of the tube , there were two small band hose clamps one on each side of the tube where it connected to the 90 degree fitting coming out the tank and on the screen side where the barb of the screen goes into the tube , the problem was that type of clear plastic tubing will deteriate and fall off into the tank , when you repair the tube the old piece of clear tubing stays in the tank and further deteriates and pieces get small enough to make it thru the new style tubing which is black and hard , and they don't use the screen any more and or the 2 clamps any more , sometimes the pieces of old tubing will get clogged up in the turn of the 90 degree fitting , ----forgive me if it's hard to understand , just sat down from along day at work
