Hi, I am new to this site and I am looking at purchasing a skid steer. I have looked at a few different machines now, and still never decided on what to buy, not sure if we should go with a CTL or wheel. So any help or information would be appreciated. My father owns a lumber yard and we are trying to find one that would be ideal for that, so we need something that will lift at least 2000 pounds, and we are also going to be using it for our personal use, for moving snow, hauling dirt and so forth. I was looking at a Takeuchi and Case so far and I hope you can help. Thanks Derek

I was looking on the internet last night again and i found a 1999 Case 95XT with 714 hours, with auxillary hydraulic hookups, heated cab, and they want 23,500.00 canadian. with it being 7 years old but only having 714 hours, would there be anything for me to worry about, rubber seals dried up and leaking or anything like that just from not having a whole lot of use? thanks Derek

Been in the tech side of skid steers for a while. Bobcats in my mind are the easiest for parts and tech help. Case and John Deere seem to be pretty reliable units also. Takeuchi I would stay away from. Very Very hard to get parts for, and tech help is not out there very much. 714 hrs on the case I think that the unit may have had a new hr meter put in the unit a couple of years ago. You can usually tell if the it the only owner of the unit, and the are prestine looking inside and out. If it is a company I would have a big X through it. I see that demo companys throw a hr meter in these things and give them a new paint job, and try to sell them as pretty much new so just beware, I have seen many people burnt.

thanks for the information goodtech, i talked to the guy and he said that it is a rental unit and that they bought it new but it hasn't seen much rental over the years(it's in a remote community), but like you said he could of just gave it a quick shot of paint and changed the hour meter.. it is a 15 hour drive for me just to go and see it soo.. i am not sure if it is even worth my time.. i will attatch a pic of the 95Xt.. i was looking at a case dealer and they want 39,500.00 for a new 430 with auxillary coupler, umm heated cab and a few others, i am waiting on a price for a 440 i think that would fill my criterias maybe.. Derek here is the link to the 95XT http://usediron.point2.com/Xhtml/Equipment/Details/P2/Skidsteer/CASE/95-XT/153731/ViewEquipmentDetail.html

Goodtech, I just purchased a used 763G and after reading your post it made me wonder about actual hours? How easy would it be to change out or mess with the hour meter that's built into the control panel(LCD)? The old style would be pretty easy to swap out. I would think? Take er easy. Scott.

On a "G" series it is very hard to have the hr meter screwed up on them. The only way to have them reset is if the controller goes south on you. I have had some people replace them, can't fiqure out why there aux won't work after a couple of hrs. They didn't have the controller programmed, so they bring it on in, after a hr of run time on the controller the hrs are locked, we cannot set them. that is the only reason that the hr meter would not match the unit

True using the Service Analyser but using the Factory analyser you can reset the hours. That comes in handy when using a new controller to diagnose a problem. You can prgram it and if that dosent fix it you can just de-program it. It would be VERY easy for ME or someone who knows to set the hours to what ever you want.

Bobcat has changed that now the only person that can change the hrs on a contoller is your district bobcat service supervisor,
