I've been keeping up with the 853 switch problem that perry has had , glad to see it fixed. My question is my 853C has none of the mentioned switch's. Are they a option? All I have to do is hit the key and go. Lapbar up or down, in or out of the seat. I guess it's a plain jane. Also while I'm here seen a cab kit (window's & door) on ebay. what models hv the same cab as a 853 ?? Have a good wkend folk's. dennis

Hi Dennis,
Not 100% sure here, but I think I read a timeline on when the various safety devices were added, I think it may have been on the Bobcat Website.
All the newer machines require the seat bar down and the presence of an operator in the seat (even if only to push the "Press to operate" button).
Does your machine allow you to move the loader arms while the bar is up as well? Mine (a 1997 763F) will not allow me to either move the arms, bucket, aux hydraulics, or machine unless the seat bar is down.

I would bet your safety valve has been bypassed by puting power to the coil. You don't have to push the "tractionlock overide" button to release the park pin/brake.
Does your brake function? Actually it is more of a mechanical park pin and the loader cannot move if it is functioning. It is applied by a spring and release by a solinoid and makes a loud click when the soliniod releases it. It can be bypassed with just a hose clamp.
All of the 553, 751, 753,763,853,863 made in the @90 to 98 had the same cab (simular enough to make the door work), the newer ones had the door hinges on the other side in say the 96 to 98 machines.
I think the earlier 742 743 had the same cab to other then the round head lights.
The G series started in 99 and have triangular head lights and they have a door with curved glass, that will really make you cry if you break it $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.

The BICS (bobcat interock control system) started around 94 and run right up to the G series in 99. To my knowledge all 500 700 and 800 in these years had them. If you have a box beside the seat, operators right side of with 5 (I think, memory?) little green lights on it you have the bics, bics is listed in the "bobcat historical specs" on bobcat.com
Many of the seat switches were removed (after the unit was sold) and updated (kit Perry bough) to the less troublesome push to operate button. Some people also figured out how to bypass the lift and tilt safety valve and the park pin. (do so at your own risk) and so these machines no longer had these features.

Does your parking brake stall the machine if you try to move with the pedal kicked forward.
You can drive around with the seat bar up? and the loader will go up and down and dump or curl the bucket.
Does it have the BICS controler on the rh beside the seat backrest?
My 93 753 was that last year with no bics and the park brake only come on if the pedal was kicked ahead. Any bics equiped loader (94 and up) the brake comes on every time you lift the seat bar. My 93 also used a disc brake setup and could be foced to move with the brake on. The bics park brake is a mechanical park pin and cannot be moved with the brake on (without breaking something).
Bobcat historical specs show bics started on the 94 models, if yours doe not have it it must be a early 94 on back to1990 model is all. They don't list any c model 853 so mayby that where the confusion is. It either 90 to 94 pre bics or 94 to 98 with bics or a 853H (for hi flow)

Yep Ken that is what I have, the disc parking brake. the seat bar has to be dwn for the hyd's to wrk,,it push's a lever dwn on ea side. one for the lift & the other side for the bucket. so my 853 must be a 93 or older. I think it's time to crash, just did 700 miles to day. I drive a car hauler / I deliver the ford power stroke's out of the plant here in KY to the dealer's, thing's hv slowed dwn, so I've been doing some Bobcat wrk on the side. Thank's again for the info, sure help's when someone has been around them for a while. later dennis
