I was just wanted know with out having a sales man call me everyday. Also I am starting some mountian projects In an area that has 330+ inches of snow fall every year. That means alot snow, slush, rocks, mud, and steep hills. Is a T320 going to serve me better than a S330 and what should I expect to pay for either?

one thing about a tracked machine they are about useless in snow they have too much flotation if you are worried about the rocks damaging the tires have them filled with foam they will be like a rock no worries about air leaks and that as far as hills i dont see where a tracked machine would have much of an advantage but i have not operated them on steep hills i would see if you could demo one or rent one and see how a tracked machine works brett

I think their main advantage is traction in mud and not as much damage when turning. The cost of tracks does get up there a bit.....

I have been told the track machines are more useless in snow then the tire version. To my knowledge there is no options for tractions devices either. Where as tire chains help the tire machine considerably on ice and snow and studded snow tires are available.
I think the track machine are simular to a monster truck tire in snow (extremely useless) , not a light enough footprint to stay on top and to much floatation to get down to a solid base and find some traction.
Also a good snow tire requires smaller lugs with alot of spaces and a narrow footprint, Where tracks tend to have wide and long lugs with rounded corners to prevent chunking the tracks when working on abrazive surfaces. I guess someone could mold a "snow track"simular to a snowmobile tread, with narrow, sharp tread, but to date I have never seen one.

Being in the South, we almost never have any appreciable snow anymore. Usually more ice than snow. Must be that "Global Warming" thing!!

Anyway, it's interesting to read about tracks being useless in snow. But thinking about it, I don't ever recall seeing a "Snow Cat" on TV with wheels, and they never use track machines as snow plows either. I learn something new almost every time I read the forum. Keep it up!!!

There is at least one traction solution. I saw a product review of Trak Bite's. They are a steel double grouser that bolts on to Bobcat Rubber Tracks. Skid Steer Solutions Pricing Info
I don't have any personal experience with them. I only wonder about using them on hard surfaces.

the other thing if a s330 is alot cheaper than a t320 then you may have the ability to have both a tracked machine and a standard skider loegering makes a product called vts that bolts directly to the hubs where the wheels bolt on so you could switch between the two based on your needs im not shure about the price but i know we installed a set on a machine a while back and they looked quite neat brett

s330 is about 17,000 cheaper then a t320 lol plus to replace a set of those tracks it will probably cost you easy 5,000 crazy money. i have a t190 going up and down hills its the best better traction then a tire machine but for plowing snow i have the galaxy hulk tires on my machine seem to work real good

Noting to do with S330 / T320, But I run my 751 with HD BC brand tires and HD Snow chains (with V - pattern welds on links) in the back. I found this to be the best compromise for traction. I keep warning my customers about the gauging I do on their driveways, but a small price to pay for not having to shovel it.............
