I live 1/2 hour north of Huntsville. I was down your way a week ago in Norfolk........a gentlemen (used loosely!) had one of the V-4 engines that I had but said it was perfect. I call about 4-5 times telling him I didn't want to drive all the way down there and find out the thing is trash. He reassured me that I would be pleased. After driving almost 5hrs, I came home with out a motor! Governor was broken (the actual casing), had an exhaust valve leak to the point your could hear it through the exhaust.....granted it did run but it needed work. Just a note, this engine is on Kijiji as "Ford V-4 off sprayer". Even after I questioned him on my findings, he re listed the ad if there were no issues! Unbelievable! Anyway, my CL40 is direct drive but I think with a little creativity, that could be changed. I actually just got a call about a 2 cylinder diesel out of a heating unit....I'm guessing it would be a Yanmar. It's local and the price is right. But again, the rpm thing maybe an issue.....more reading I guess!
