I have a 2002 LS180 Turbo. I have been having occasional electrical fits with this unit where the panel lights would go out just like you got out of the seat. I could still drive but would have not boom controls. It usually would come out of it if I let it sit for 10 minutes or so. The other day I got in it and had the same thing but it won't come out of it this time. I checked all the fuses, seat switch, and seat belt switch - all good. It starts and moves. A buddy told me to try and unplug the instrument cluster for 15 minutes, I did this and had no luck. I did notice though when I would wiggle the harness' in the back of the cluster all the lights would come on and stay on, and I did have it twice where the correct lights came on but by the time I got the panel reinstalled they went out again. My questions are - 1)Does this sound like the cluster is bad or could it be something else in the electrical system??? 2)Is there a way to test if the cluster is bad before I buy a new one?? 3)Is there a better place to get a new one (if I need one) other than the dealership??? $786 new and $633 reman
