Me no speaka english, meester. :P To access diode (on my machine) 1. Find engine (ha ha) 2. Find and remove fuse box cover. Yes, that one, right there. 3. Untuck one set (of two?) “loose” wires of the harness IN the fuse box that converge into the rubbery, removable diode that looks like a trailer hitch connector. Pull off connector---DOH! Grasp and hold the wire harness, THEN remove the diode. “Under seat dip stick“---you don't have to call me names ---gee wiz. tehehe I don't have one. Nor do I have a strainer. I DO have a plastic tank with a cap on the right rear. Again, my machine is different, sounds like much different that yours upon start up as far as lights, codes etc. go so there is no comparison. Wait. Come to think of it, ALL the lights with their symbols --one light for each thing that could go wrong or being monitored (no “codes” though) light up. In fact they go crazy and ALL start flashing and the beeper beeps. Then the LCD (not LED) next to the fuel gage blanks out and changes to something else (what?). Also, when I have had this diode blow, oddly there is another fuse that blows, sometimes in the cab under the little door in the headliner. Sometimes it's in the “engine bay fuse box” too. I check them ALL just to be sure. And by checking them I assure that I have a good connection in the fuse holder.
