    743 broke down

My 743 is broke down, the rear pintle lever came loose and put the skidsteer into a non stop rotating maneuver. Got it shut down and put the pintle lever back into place. Had to take the cam bars off to get the slide bar into place. Anyway , my question is, the steering linkage is all messed...

    Frozen cable

On my 743 the shut off cable/button seems to be frozen. It won't push down so I can start it up. Where is the end connected so I can check it out and free it up?

    glow plug resistance

I did that with the battery but it took a while for it to light up. I'm using NGK 6926 supposedly "rapid start". There is continuity tip to tip, then I touched the tip to the threads and there is continuity, "weird". I get 00.0 at the 200k ohm setting so I went as low as my meter could go...

    glow plug resistance

I pulled the glow plugs and tested on the multimeter and come up with .8 ohms resistance. What range should good glow plugs read. I thought it was no more than .6 ohms

    Bleeding the radiator

On my 743, the new radiator has a drain valve on the top side of the radiator. If I open it up while filling , would that let the air out?

    Flywheel gap

I was working on the radiator on my 743 and I dropped a couple of nuts. I think they fell into the fan shroud. Will that hurt anything? I tried putting a magnet on a string down there but it just clings to the flywheel. Is there enough gap between the shroud and flywheel to just leave them...

    Memory Loss

On my 743 I took out the radiator to replace it with a new one. I might have taken it apart to far. Now I am ready to put it back together but I can't remember where the 1" x 30" plus piece of strap metal goes. I don't think it goes in the back behind the cab, so it must be some sort of...

    743 Temp Gauge Reading

Since the temp gauge on the 743 doesn't have any numbers on it tell how hot it actually is running, where should the needle be on the gauge for a 180 degree thermostat. Should it be in the middle of the "normal zone"? If the thermostat is 195 degree, would that put the needle into the "hot zone"

    Two 743 Questions

Is there an easy way to burp the 743? I don't see a screw around the thermostat to release air as you pour antifreeze in. Why is it cold? The radiator is cold under the cap and the other end is hot. They should be almost the same temp. I flushed with NAPA radiator cleaner. I have cleaned...

    743 Too Hot

I changed the thermostat because the old one would not close completely during the test. I got a 195 because that's what NAPA had in that size. I cleaned the radiator and oil cooler fins and it still seems to run hot unless the 743 temp gauge is known for running hot

    743 Temp Gauge

Does the temp gauge on the 743 seem to run a little hot? The gauge needle is about 1/4 way into the hot zone on the gauge

    743 Too Hot

I installed a 195 degree thermostat in my 743, and the gauge is running hot. I have read that it could be other things causing it to run hot. For now , I just was wondering if this thermostat is ok as installed. If it is, I will start checking other areas that may be causing it to run hot...

    853 Thermostat

What is the thermostat (Napa or Stant) that fits a 743.

    743 Creep adjustment

I would put it up on the blocks again, then apply the brake, adjust for the creep and when the straining pump noise goes away that should be neutral and good to go. Tighten up and take off the blocks

    743 Creep adjustment

OK Here goes... I have been having trouble adjusting the creep to find neutral so that the pump will not be straining against the brake. Whenever I get done, and take it off the blocks, it will start creeping and the straining pump begins. Could I put it back up on blocks , set the brake and...
