    S220 throttle cable freezes

Thanks for the feedback. Clear weather today so I got the cable and throttle lever apart. The cable moved freely but I still got wd40 into it. The hand lever was very, very sticky and there was visible corrosion. I got it lubed and everything is smooth now. Of course it is above freezing. With...

    S220 throttle cable freezes

The throttle cable on my bobcat appears to have water in the housing so occasionally the throttle sticks after a cold night. Is there a practical way to lube that cable and displace the water or do I just need to replace the entire cable assembly?

    Auger in rocky soil

I need to drill 50+ holes in some very rocky soil. The soil has is a gravelly silt but there are lots of rocks fist sized up to volkswagen sized. The rocks range from badly weathered granite to granite that is very hard. The holes need to be at least 4 inch diameter and 4-1/2 ft deep. Would a...

    S220 replacement wiper

I lost the windshield wiper on my S220. The arm is intact and the pivot pin for the wiper appears to be undamaged, so it either fell off somehow or got taken off by a prankster. Does anyone have a generic part reference for a replacement wiper or will I need to go to Bobcat for a special part...

    Backhoe Attachment

Skidsteer backhoes appear to be less popular these days and lots of contractors have replaced them with mini excavators. The result is that it is hard to find the new bobcat backhoe attachments new but it is really easy to find a decent second hand unit. For around $5-6K you can get one in...

    773 High flow? snowblower?

When I bought a used Erskine blower I called Erskine and was able to talk to one of their engineers. The motor for the blowers (at least my model blower) is a Char-Lynn that is available in several different displacements. Once you confirm the flow rate of your skid steer you can calculate the...

Rear view camera and LCD in winter

Can you tell me whether your machine drips water on the LCD monitor. I seem to have a continual problem with that. I think because I track in snow, the heater melts and vaporizes the snow, and then it condenses and drips off the roof.

    Deep snow removal with blower

The following link is a video showing a driveway being cleared of fairly deep snow. The machine is a highflow S220 with an Erskine blower. The fan motor on the blower is a larger displacement unit sized to keep the fan speed close to 750rpm. I am interested in any comments re: whether I should...

    S160 and S220

You dont mention where you are and what kind of snow you need to blow. Even a standard flow machine would likely be able to move a foot or two of dry powder, but deep and wet snow are a different story. I have a high flow S220 and, for heavy Sierra snow, the machine is only adequate. If there...

Rear view camera and LCD in winter

I need a rear view camera for my skid steer for snow removal, but I am concerned about how well any such unit will survive winter conditions. I have an enclosed cab with heater and typically I have lots of condensation dripping down inside the cab once the machine warms up. Has anyone used a...

How to inspect a 8811 backhoe

I got a look at the backhoe today and it appears that it has little actual use but has been damaged by improper storage or handling. The damage includes a scratch visible on one hydraulic cylinder rod, a dent on the main boom, all of the sheet metal steps are bent, the seat is missing, and the...

How to inspect a 8811 backhoe

I am going to inspect a used 8811 but will not be able to attach it to a loader to test its function. Other than looking for obvious corrosion or other damage to the hydraulic cylinders, are there any common types of damage to be looking for? Also, can anyone comment on the price of $3800 with 2...

    S220 variable flow is jerky

I am seeing this problem in both directions. Following the intended slow flow in either direction, there is a significant surge in the same direction when the switch on the joystick is released. It is as if it opens the flow wide open for a small fraction of a second and then slams the valve shut.

    S220 variable flow is jerky

The variable flow on my S220 has developed a problem recently where the variable flow surges when released. So for example, while slowly opening the jaws on my grapple, the jaws move nice and smooth but when I release the variable flow switch the jaws jump open another several inches. The same...
