Adjusting clutches on a Bobcat M-600 (or 610)

Yup. Got me one of dem thar wrenches. Had to wait almost 2 months for my dealer to get mine in. Apparently the manufacturer only makes them in batches, and I had to wait until the number of orders grew to their minimum manufacturing quantity. Re. the fluid, my local Bobcat dealer (and they are a...

Adjusting clutches on a Bobcat M-600 (or 610)

I got my operator's manual for $15 from my Bobcat dealer, and same was $30 on eBay. Same for the maintenance manual - cheaper from the dealer. Most of the online manuals are scanned copies of the real thing in PDF on CD-ROM. I've had those for other vehicles and have found them difficult to use...

Adjusting clutches on a Bobcat M-600 (or 610)

Yes I do have an operator's manual, and it does describe the clutch adjustment. It says adjust so that there's 3“-4” of play either side of vertical in the stick before it engages. I was hoping the adjustment would take the sticking out of the operation, but it didn't really. Do I have to drain...

    Newbe owner m610

My operating levers are “snatchy”, especially on the right side. I have to pull back hard to get full engagement of reverse with the right hand drive, and then the lever/clutch “sticks” rather than returns to the central neutral position. I have to push it forward a little and it releases. This...

You'll have a lot of fun being productive with your 610. Just be careful on grades and slopes and follow the operating precautions laid out in the manual. Our Bobcats have short wheelbases and are very tippy on slopes. Always keep your heaviest end (loaded bucket, or engine if the bucket is...

Do you guys run your skidloader full throttle?

This is a great question. What about for a Bobcat M600 (~'68) with Wisconsin engine (700 hours on factory rebuild). I know running at low throttle will stop it from being able to turn smoothly etc., but is there any harm in running full throttle all the time?

I found my local Bobcat dealer to be cheaper for the original factory manuals. The going price on eBay for the user manual was $30+ while the real thing from the dealer was $15. It's a must-have, along with the clutch adjustment wrench.

Adjusting clutches on a Bobcat M-600 (or 610)

So I took a look at the clutch adjustments on my old M-600 over the weekend, and need some advice. Finally got to use the special wrench that took months to come in. I tightened the castle nuts a tad, just to the next slot for the pin, and it took most of the travel/slack out of the control...

    Can you identify this leak?

Thanks Kiwi. I e-mailed with a friend of mine in Florida who owns a 610 and he says that there are o-rings where the lever spindles enter the bulkhead but they do a poor job sealing, and that the sloshing fluid was the source of my “leak”. Hey, have you adjusted your clutches, and if so, how was...

    Can you identify this leak?

So if you stalled or ran out of gas, what stopped your 371 from rolling away if it had no brakes? Also, BTW, the dealer told me today that it doesn't matter wheather I use atf, motor oil or hydraulic fluid as long as it's 10W or greater. Stephen

    Bobcat Operator Training Materials

So, I got a free hour today to take another stab at this. As recommended (thank you all) I backed up the hill, and started digging in going downhill. Much easier to get a cut-in than uphill. When I had what I thought was a good start and a more-levelled area for the uphill work, I went down to...

what hydraulic oil should i use in skid steer

According to my local dealer, the 600 series were shipped with atf. However, when they service them, they use motor oil grater than 10W. They said hydraulic fluid would be fine, and (while chuckling) that what's in my Bobcat is probably a cocktail of different fluids mingled from 30+ years of...

    Can you identify this leak?

Thanks Ken. Both sides of the frame hold the hydraulic fluid, in the same cavity as the divechains and clutches arrangement. There's a plug/hole where the level should be filled to. It needs to be on level ground to check, which is difficult on my property. To access the tank I have to have the...

    Can you identify this leak?

Thanks skidsteer. You may have hit upon it. I had a nasty backflip, but not all the way over, while working on a slope the day the leak showed up. I let the power off just in time to stop flipping over all the way, but the Bobcat bounced a few times before settling down. Scared the crap outa me...

    Can you identify this leak?

No takers? I'm reluctant to use the Bocat again before I take care of this, but accessing behind the bulkhead to do exploratory surgery is not easy. I'm waiting for my clutch cap wrench to come in at my local Bobcat dealer (Sacramento). Until then I can't take off the side panels. Anyhow, any...
