Problem solved. In my case it was the belt to the hydrostatic pump that just needed some more tension. Now it works as it should again.

No lights on the brakes. How do I disengage the brakes?

Do you mean that the machine would work fine up to half speed with the brakes engaged?

How do I know if it is a G series?

I will try that too. I tilted the cab and started to examin some of the wires and ground connections and didn't find anything loose but after that the machine have been starting like a clock!
