I was wondering if anyone out there could tell me how much this engine is worth. This engine came with an old Melroe M600 I bought a couple of years back. It is pretty ugly cosmetically and has not run in years. I plan to strip it, repaint it, rebuild the carburetor and replace all of the...
How is the Chinese GX620 knock off holding up in the 440B? May I ask where you bought that engine? I've done one repower on a 444 and I'm planning another one on my 600. I'd like to know how these Chinese replicas are holding up in skids.
There is a passage inside the back cover page of the older Melroe Bobcat skid loaders with a passage about American Spirit and free enterprise. It starts: "An American Heritage Free Enterprise ...." and continues with "I am the spirit of private enterprise. Wherever I have existed ....." and so...
If that's the CCKMS I had that engine in my Melroe 444 and had similar problems, cutting out, shutting down when hot. Carb losing its prime. I even added an electric fuel pump and to no avail. Got scars on my arms working on that bitch..I would look to your intake manifold gaskets and make sure...
Hey Tim, Thanks for the info. I think I'm going to go the pipe wrench approach. By the way I'm from Mass too (Norton.) Did a lot of work on our Norton house last summer with my 444. Job took me to Conway, NH last fall; renting the Norton house for the time being. That's a nice lookin' 600 you've...
Thanks for the advice. I think I'll give that a try before I spring for a spanner wrench. Bobcat of Boston had the seals in stock. Duttin look to scary to fix. Thanks.
Has anyone ever rebuilt a hydraulic cylinder for one of these machines? My left tilt cylinder is leaking from the shaft. I've removed the cylinder. There are no bolts to be found. The dust wiper at the base of the piston shaft has two small holes in it that are 2 inches apart on center. Is there...
I ended up tearing through that Lovejoy coupler within 70 hours. Ate through 3 stars and eventually sheared the jaws. I took your advice and picked up a Moreflex coupler. FOR THOSE INTERESTED: Center piece Moreflex #352; Flange for engine side from TracParts.com A-L36-19 (this hooks the 352 to a...
It sounds like you are experiencing some of the same trial and error I did with the drive sheave adjustment. A few good reasons to choose a slow speed, as I'm sure you know, are greater power for pushing and digging, easy turning, and less tension on the crank. The red/yellow scheme sounds...
U sure am glad to hear those clutches shouldn't be scarce. I can't see that they would as there are so many 444 thru 610 machines out there in some sort of service. I agree that the belt should have no slippage. Spinning of the jackshaft is pretty easy by hand. I know this because I did it at...
Also just a thought, if your belt is so loose that you're thinking about adding a tensioner, I'll bet it is pretty stretched. Bobcat has that belt for about 100 bucks. If the mounting and orientation of your engine are correct I can't see you would ever need a tensioner on that belt system...
