I'm really interested to hear if the carb rebuild did the trick or not. Although it seemed like the coil fixed my problem, it still shuts down after about 30 minutes running time. I did order a replacement gas cap too- the old one was not the right one. I'm planning to open up the carb now too.

My right side end had blown out too. I cut out a round piece of 1/16” thich sheet metal to match the end diameter and borrowed a friends MIG welder to seal it to the end. It looks horrible, but it looks like it saved me some cash!

With the wheel off, try grabbing the hub with both hands and yank on it (straight out) as hard as you can. If you want to buy one you can look at MSC, or Enco, or on the cheapy end- harbor fright. So the way I used it to check the end play on my 630 was to line up the indicator so that it can measure the motion as you pull and push in and out on the hub. This gives you a direct measurement that lets...

If you can get your hands on a dial indicator with a magnetic base, you can measure the end play very accurately. Don't rely on feel for this.
