we are finding out on two separate unit S 360s we have to change fuel filters every 40-50 hours we have a 300 and 320 and 250 no problems our dealer says we have to run highway fuel not off road fuel we have new filters on the fuel 500 gal tanks anyone else having this problem seems odd and off road machine requires hwy fuel a problem for many construction jobs thanks mike

The only difference between on road and off road is the color of the fuel, otherwise its the same. At least in the state I live in but I thought it was nationwide. I'm not sure about the filter on the 360's but we have a brand new machine (t750) at work and the filter on that machine is way different than the "standard" filters we all know and love. I remember the salesman telling me that the new filer is a lot fussier and a lot more expensive. And I believe him because the filter is huge and the machine has some anti pollution garbage built into it. If your 360 has a water separator, have you tried to drain it occasionally? Maybe the extra bio diesel now being added to the fuel may have negative effect with the filters? I no it doesn't help.

Its the wave of the future. I just did some training at the JLG training center. All the new Tier 4 Final engines are water cooled deutz's. HPCR (high pressure common rail)...A fuel rail constantly pressurized to 25,000psi...you read that right, injectors are fired electronically. Instructor said DO NOT try to bleed the lines, you'll never get it to seal again and will probably end up replacing the whole system. Prefilling the filters is also a big no-no, filters are installed empty and primed with lift pump to prevent dirt from getting past the filter. Some shops are firing guys who are caught pre filling filters. Might be time to buy a mint S250 and put it in a time capsule.

i don't think offroad diesel is ultra low sulfur, it's heating oil. on road diesel is ultra low sulfur. these new diesels run so clean. it's kind BS that you have to pay road taxes for your machines.

All diesel in MN is ultra low sulpher even the off road. The cheapest injectors I have seen for my dodge common rail is $600.00 apiece so you don't really want any problem with them.

I remember being taken through a diesel shop a few years ago when common rain was really becoming popular. The shop was one of the very few in .au that had the gear to repair common rain pumps/injectors. They told me of the pressures and if a seal was not in just right, the pressure would cut it and the metal it was to seal.
The higher the pressure, the better atomization of the fuel can be achieved. They even said that there was not just one injection of fuel like "normal" diesels do, they can do a pre-injection before TDC, then one at TDC then one or two after. It just makes the "blast" of the fuel more even, not just one detonation. One of the reasons the engines are quieter, there is no one loud knock, but multiple smaller ones. They can time it so the fuel burns more completely this way, more efficient? possibly but the addition of anti-polution parts, that may be equaled out.
