So, I'm very new to this skidsteer thing. I acquired a mid 80s 743 and used it for a few years but recently decided to clean it up and repair all of the leaks. I started by rebuilding (with seal kit purchased from dealer) the left lift ram, success! No more leaks! I then replaced 2 of the lines that feed the hydro motors, success! no more leaks! I also replaced the main suction line that runs from the port block to the hydrostatic pump (old one was leaking around the hose clamps). But now the lift rams don't operate as smooth (up) and noisier than before. The drive motors seem about the same. And now the fluid is foaming in the tank.

It will be a bit better when you play with it next time just keep the fluid full and work it the let it settle it will take it a few times for the air to work it's way out best not to max out the cylinders till it's done good job

One of the most important thing on the 743 is to keep the ujoints greased from the engine to the pump also the most neglected get in there and do it if loose replace the best hundred bucks you will ever spend on it you can do major damage if they break
