This is my first post here. I have a 5600 tool cat , I have been very satisfied with. Anyway I had my tree shear on today clearing some small tree's , about 3hrs in to my job a hydraulic line busted on my tree shear. I shut the machine down and un hooked the lines to the tree shear and went to start the machine up and it would turn over but will not start. I have added more hydraulic fluid, more diesel just in case. Still nothing. Any suggestions would be great ??? Thanks in advance, okie

The line has nothing to do with your problem so do not connect it anyway. Does it crank, but not start or not crank at all? Any service codes being set? Answer these questions and I can go from there. Otherwise I'm shooting in the dark.

About 10min prior to the line busting. I did notice the engine run a little ruff for just a couple seconds, I reved the engine and it cleared up.I never thought of it till now. That's the first time the engine has ever done that. My fuel filter is not very old. just seems like to me it is not getting any fuel ?? it turns over strong, no codes at all. Also , how can I move it , with it not running. I would like to pull it up to my shop. Its setting out in the middle of my field.

It might have a saftey in it for low hydro fluid check the leval
Yes ,I thought about that too. I topped it off with hydraulic fluid I pulled the drain on the fuel filter and some fuel came out but kinda slow. I spayed a very small shot of starting fluid in the intake and it tried to run.

No safety system to prevent starting. Change your fuel filter and prime the system. Pretty much can gurranty you picked up crap in your fuel and plugged up the fuel filter. Easiest way to tell my what series you have, do you have would axles or independent suspension?

After you drained the fuel filter, did you prime the system again? If not, you have air involved and it wont start. Like bobcatdan mentioned, change filter, prime, and it should go. If you don't know how to prime the system check your manual or do a search here.

Update : picked up a new filter this morning came back and removed the old one, hung the old filter and went to prime it up and the primer ball would not pump any fuel. So I took off the primer ball and it was stopped completely up, I couldn't even blow any air thru it. Stopped by the local boat repair shop and picked up a new primer ball. Installed new ball, primed it up and it took a few cranks but she finally picked up and started. Maybe this will help someone else down the road. A BIG Thank You to all for your input and advise, Okie
