Basically a newbie here.....I have a 763 2000 Bobcat with 415 original hours.....My hydraulic oil tank is leaking and I am told that was a common problem with this unit and that the replacements will solve this issue but they are about $400 for a plastic tank from Bobcat....is there another source? Also, I see where Bobcat recommends their hydraulic oil only and supposedly they use some additives like zinc.....Can one use another brand of hydraulic oil safely? Regards, Mike

On the tank, I'd call someplace like Schaeffer Enterprises and get a used one, insulate the wear point and move on. There is a really nice guy in Holdingford MN that parts out machines. I'm not comfortable putting his number on here. As for hydraulic oil, my dad has ran the stuff from TSC in the yellow 5 gallon bucket for a few years and never had a problem. When I say "ran it" I mean we emptied the tank and flushed the entire system due to a water contamination and just put in the cheap stuff. Just don't use any transmission based hydraulic oil is my understanding.

I wouldnt use the yellow bucket hydraulic oil at tractor supply. I ran it in my 873 last year and the charge pressure light kept coming on. Ive been running aw32 and works great. The xtreme oil might as well be honey.

I would really verify your leak because the hydraulic tanks next to never leak. I have only replaced one that was because the thread insert broke out for the fill bung. As for hydraulic fluid, Old Machinist if you would be so kind as to look into in early s/n S or T series manual, there use to be a chart of fluid recommendation that you could post for handy reference. For what it is worth, all we run at my new employer is 10w30 and our S220 made it 15,000 hrs on 10w30 before a drive motor let go. I had the pumps apart also and the swash plates and rotating assembly still look good.

bobcatguy may be onto something here with the guy in Holdingford, Mn. His contact info can simply be googled with the words "skidloader holdingford Mn". I don't want to post his info here. I've never dealt with him personally, but he lives in my neck of the woods so I'm familiar with who he is. I used to buy hay from his dad on occasion.

Yes fellas, I tried googling that entry last night and the only thing I could come up with is a full service Bobcat dealer called Farm-rite Equipment.....is that the "man" that is being referenced? If not, would someone please email me who it is....my address is in the above threads. Regards, Mike

Got It! Thanks man....appreciate the sharing. Regards, Mike
Sorry! this thread went by the wayside. I emailed you his number. There's also a guy in MO that parts out machines. I'll call a guy I know and get his number. I REALLY have to keep the numbers of these people. As Dan said, I'd take a REALLY hard look at that tank before you pull it. I had a case drain fitting give me fits and I swore it was a tank leak on the bottom. You know... tightened it and it "just couldn't be that leaking anymore" sorta thing.
