My G763 seat switch wasn't working, so I bought a new one and installed it. The unit worked "OK" for about a 15 minutes and I lost it again. So I checked the wiring, cleaned and scraped and sanded all grounds even the ones in the engine compartment. Still no help. I took the seat switch completely out of the seat bar and I could get it to make. unplugged it and plugged it back and it kept making. I let it set about 3 hours went back and it wouldn't make again, then I happened to get a wrench close to it without touching it and it made again. Can anyone explain how it works or give any advice on this subject. I don't understand if the magnet is a transmitter and something else is the receiver or if somehow it creates a small amount of voltage or what. Sometimes if you hit traction lock override the seat switch will come on. Just don't know everything I should about the machine.

There have been a lot of posts on those switches, If I recall they are a proximity switch and the switch and the contact piece have to be in just the right position.

763 G series don't have seat switches, never did. Some C and early F series did, but most have been upgraded to the push to operate system. Are you having problems with the seat bar switch?
The title is wrong Dan, it is about the lap bar switch.

They work when a magnet comes in close proximity to the sensor. Now, the magnet must be is just the right spot to work. Some times the tangs that locate the magnet on the seat bar break or wear so the magnet does not always sit in the correct spot to activate it.
If you turn the machine on with the sender connected and in hand, look at the dash and rotate the magnet till the light comes on..

Still working on the seat bar switch. I found 2 of the 3 wires going to the magnetic prox, plug have 4 to 5 volts and 1 has 0. I was wondering if this reading should have been 12 volts and maybe I may have a connection problem?

5v is about right i believe.
What happens if you rotate the magnet inside the switch? They can go bad too, so it may be the sensor too.

When I rotate the magnet it makes and breaks the seat bar light, but when the light is on if you turn the key off and leave it 24 hours and turn the key back on the light will be out until you mess with the seat bar switch again and sometimes it will show low hydraulic fluid indicator light and filter and once you get the light on for about 1 hour it will be "OK" until you let it set for about 24 hours again and the same thing again. I have changed engine oil and filter , hydraulic oil and filter and fuel filter. I have purchased a new seat bar switch and magnet and bushings etc.. didn't make any difference.

I cleaned every electrical connection I could find today. Put it all back together and it is working now. I suspect it won't work tomorrow if it don't I will take it to a Bobcat dealer and let them have a shot at it. Thanks for all help and comments.

That is normal for the light to not come on when you shut down and restart. I have run a machine that was being repaired by taping the magnet in place so i could move the machine.
Hopefully the cleaning did the trick, time will tell though.

education time. everyone google hall effect. quick syponios when a magnet passes over an electric field (this is how we get away with low amp low voltage) is termed a hall effect, yes they do fail not on a regular basis but they do fail., the reasoninining behind this tech is to not to have to run 40lbs of wire . same thinkin as relays.
