I have a New Holland lx665 skid steer. Have an aftermarket cab enclosure on it. I'm looking for a good cab heater.(not a little electric one). My local dealer priced me a factory one without instillation at $2400!! Only paid 8k for the whole machine lol. I asked them about installing an aftermarket one and he said it would need to be mounted on the outside of the machine and duct in. He said the plumbing needs to fit the factory holes on my engine or it want work. He just pulling my chain or what? Any help is appreciated. FROZE to death last year pushing snow and I am not doing that again, but I dont have $2400 to blow.

Might do better in the new holland section but if you have room any little box with a heater core and a fan will work just run hoses to it we used to make them at GM to heat our outside fork trucks

I can't see why an after market one will not work. You just need to do the plumbing. There was a post years ago about an inline water pump that was used to move the coolant through the heater core if you can't find a suitable line(s) to tap into.

The 12 volt ones will keep one ear warm if you put it right by that ear. I took a heater core from a car and mounted it up above to the left in mine with a fan from NAPA behind it and plumbed water lines to it. It is not ideal but keeps me warm enough. If you can find the heater setup from a junked 665 it would be ideal but I see no reason a after market one will not work. As long as you are at it check your engine temp with a infrared gun, my thermostat was stuck open so it never got very warm.

If you do find a junkyard with oem heaters let me know also.

I looked on messick's and they want 300 for the heater box alone. I think I may go to a good sheet metal shop or even buy some 1/8 inch plate steel and make a box next year but for now the setup I have will work.

Jerry - i like your setup of a heater core and fan, even an old car one would do the trick. Get the blower and heater core, space may be harder to find, but that would have the potential to cook you in the cab.

I have really thought hard about building a copy of the factory NH heater setup. I just dont think it would pay for itself though. Till you build all the sheetmetal and paint it. Then you have to buy the heatercore and blower motor assy. Then at the min you need a switch. Might not have to have the headliner with outlets like NH uses. I dont think the market would pay what it costs. I bet COST could easily be 550-600 without any profit...

If I make one it will resemble New Hollands heater box but will just have a car heater core and squirrel cage blower in it. I would do it just so I could use that type of blower. Then come through the back wall and put some flexible duct to where you want the heat.

The problem is making everything compact enough to fit in the small space.

I have been looking to add air to a skid steer that has heat. Run across a youtube that was making a heater. It is two part video. www.youtube.com/watch?v=UKixkQ2GYKM It could give you ideas to make your own. He said he had around $70 in it. He used a 12V fan but I think that a 4" computer fan would work and is much smaller. Hope this helps. Ron

Has anyone installed the Maradyne heater and if so how does it work? There isn't much room to work with. The factory kit is VERY pricy.......
I have installed the maradyne heater that is real thin and fits behind the seat. I think its the same setup SIMS offers for the NH machines. Its ok, only issue is everytime you tilt the seat up the hoses to the heater core flex. I had one machine that this flexing cracked the solder joint on the heater core, then antifreeze started leaking out... I have also seen a small heater mounted on the control valve cover between your feet. This worked well but was a real pain climbing in and out of the skidsteer...
