I have been searching the internet the past few days to see what parts and attachments are available for my skid steer. While searching many of the web sites, I noticed a lot of burned skid steers both wheeled and tracked. Most of these machines were diesel powered. What would cause these fires in diesel powered machines? Thanks

Birds and Mice love to build on top of the manifold and turbo. another source is a lot of build up in the engine compartment, leaves, dry grass, ect.

If you tip it the oil can feed the engine till it blows
99% that ive seen in last say 5 yrs have been units that have sat over winter come spring they get fired up. only get the O shit surprise, in every case its been birds nesting on the turbo. than the burning nest land on plastic fuel tank. than its gets really interesting. so not to preach but the daily inspection prior to starting unit comes into play, especialy after storage. I would take things a bit farther as in raise ldr arms safely support, raise cab and vissualy inspect. fire EXT are like guns you never need one till you really really need one. and if you aint got one. well to bad so sad. that boat done sailed., fillin a hard hat from the creek. just aint gonna put that one out.

Very good advice. I will be sure to check mine before every start. Especially since I do not use mine daily. It may set for months at a time. Thanks.
