I have a Lx885 that I rebuilt the engine on a couple years ago. I had an oil pressure problem but found a plug missing in the fron t of the block. I do appreciate the help I recieved on this problem. Now I have another issue. The charging system quit on it a few weeks after the dealer had it for some other repairs. I don't have any power on what I believe is the exciter wire to the alternator(pur/r). I can jump power to it for a second from the battery and the alternator will charge 14.5VDC. Cut the loader off and restart it and it is back showing 12.48 until I energize that circuit again. My question is where does that power come from? I found that on some tractors it has to come through a temp sensor. I believe I have traced this all the way back to the control panel (circuit board) beside the ignition switch. My other question is if the power for this alternator is coming through this control panel, can I just run another wire from the ignition switch or do I need to replace the control panel? Any help on this would be great.
