Hi have a bobcat 763 that cranks but won't start. I have compression in all cylinders at 250. I am not sure if the fuel solenoid is working. I know with the key on it doesn't but not sure if it switches while cranking so I zip tied it and it still will not start. Now all of a sudden I tried to start it and it cranks for a second then stops cranking and the machine makes a beeping noise. Any ideas what it could be please. Thanks

Check and clean your battery terminals and put a charger on it then spray some wd 40 in the intake and see if it farts
250 isn't much compression but you may have washed the oil film from the cylinders with repeated trials. Any smoke at all yet?

Do not use starting fluid will damage your engine
The beeping is trying to tell you something is wrong. Most likely low system voltage from the repeated starting attempts. Charge the battery.
What is the outside temp where you're at. Could the fuel be gelled or water in the filter frozen? I know my machine still has summer diesel in because this cold air is so early this year.

If it's beeping I'm assuming you have a "G" series with digital hour meter. Press and hold the headlight button and it will either display "none" or 3 or 4 numbers (like 00-00) this is a code. If you post what code you're getting I might be able to help. If you aren't getting any smoke when it cranks you aren't getting fuel. I'd start by cracking the air bleeder on your filter housing and squeezing the primer bulb to make sure you're getting fuel up to the filter. If you pump the bulb and no fuel comes out of the bleeder after a few pumps you probably have a broken pickup tube. It's really a fairly common problem. If you get fuel up to the filter with the bulb then I'd look at the fuel shutoff solenoid. I'd start in the fuse panel between your legs just below the seat. I think there is a fuse and a relay. Check the fuses and swap the relay with one you know is working from another position. Post back with what you find.

I got it to crank again. It was a code 14-03. For the shut off solenoid. It does switch to the on position but only for 2 seconds then the solenoid switches to the off position. I have black smoke coming out of the exhaust. It sounds like it wants to start. Maybe needs to be bled some more.

Could be water or just bad fuel........have you checked the air filter...........compression is low.......glow plugs working and how cold is it there
Yes I have tried the wd40. Still no good. Might be bad fuel. This machine has been sitting here ever since I started working at this job on august 25. Not sure how long its been sitting before that. The temp here in Delaware is around 40 degrees. Air filter is good and glow plugs are working

Pull the water separater off the bottom of the fuel filter and see will have to bleed after new filter would be best
