I have a New Holland LX985 skid steer that the solenoid will not unlock the valves. I have tracked down the problem to the EIC controller. I clean the circuit board and it worked for a few hours and quit again. I read another forum that talked about a capacitor bad that keeps the power steady during start up. It talked about having to unfasten the belt and refasten to operate. This has been happening for several months now. I would like to know if someone could tell me which capacitor would be bad? Is there anything else to check?

Fuse is on back side of EIC board on older machines. Described as size of an M80 fire cracker. There has been a history of those capacitors breaking loose at the solder joints. Unknown but unlikely to be the problem unless the capacitor is loose and moved to cause an electrical short.

The fuse holders get a white oxidation and the fuses get loose. on my lx865 the fuses were falling out of the fuse holders. I could wiggle the fuses and the solenoids would click on and off. Just something to check. I had intermittent problems that drove me crazy. Oriley's has a fuse holder that has about 8 spaces that I used to replace both of them. Engine compartment and the one thats overhead in the cab. About 10 bucks. No more problems. The connections on those machines are getting old and weren't the best quality to begin with. Also make sure all your grounds are good

I just noticed that this thread is four years old. I guess it could give a few options for someone else with a similar problem in the future. The seat switch and seat belt switch with poor connection could also cause the solenoid to lock.
