Adding Aux. Hyd. to 642b

I have been looking into adding aux. to my 642b. It was an option on this machine, and mine did not have it. I have been told by a few that it would be more cost effective to simply sell my machine and purchase one with it, but that does not add up to me. Now, in a search, I came up with this post http://www.skidsteerforum.com/DesktopDefault.aspx?tabid=54&frmView=ShowPost&PostID=11848
It really gave me no info I could use. I was given a picture of the hoses and pipes in a previous post, here http://www.skidsteerforum.com/DesktopDefault.aspx?tabid=54&frmView=ShowPost&PostID=74525
Now that I am getting into it, I can see where there is no rod from the right lever to the control valve on mine. That's a non-issue, as one can either be purchased or fabricated. Where I am running into a wall, is where do the hoses/pipes connect to the control valve for the aux. hydraulics? From what I can see, there are 6 ports on mine, and there is a pipe/hose at each fitting? Does this mean I cannot add it to my machine? http://i1233.photobucket.com/albums/ff391/redline9/IMG_20141028_143916_zps20de5849.jpg

In the bottom photo, you can see the unattached valve. The other picture is the side of the control valve. I have the service manual, and the parts diagrams, but they simply show them connecting to the valve assembly, where I had assumed I would have had to remove a plug, but there are already pipes there. Any help is appreciated! Thanks, Ed

I see I didn't get the pictures to go through. Ill keep trying.
To have the pictures show up in your post you need to paste the image not the link.
Here's a diagram of the control valve on the 642 machines.

Thanks Old Machinist. I did try copying the picture, but for some reason it only comes up with the link. I don't know.. Anyhow, I went back out to the shop and followed the hoses/pipes. Guess what, the 2 that are in the auxiliary ports in your diagram end up in the panel under the left lift arm, where they would then follow down to the couplers. They are capped off. I spent an hour climbing around in there earlier and never noticed them. Dummy! So, I appears I need to get the linkage to the spool and run hoses/ pipes up the boom. Boy, now I really feel like a dummy posting this now that it all seems so simple!

Be gentle with that spool on the valve the first couple of times you try to move it. It hasn't been moved in about 25 years if the machine never had auxiliaries so the detents balls are likely rusted in place.

I would spray some pb blaster on both sides of the spool for many days and hope for the best

My 453 was only 6 years old when I bought it and the aux. had never been used. I removed the lock bolt from the lever and tried to engage them. The spool was stuck solid and I broke the cable that is used on the 453 to operate that spool.
Had to remove the cap and sleeve from the valve, cleaned the sleeve and reassemble with new balls.

Thanks for the input guys. I never thought of the fact that it has never been moved. I will go easy on it. Lucky for me, this unit has been kept indoors its whole life, and the previous owner took good care of it, so maybe I'll get lucky. I'm a tech at a GM dealership, so this thing has a ton of room to work. I'm accustomed to Cadillac's and Duramax diesels stuffed into van bodies. I typically donate some blood and skin to those!

Yeh I worked at G.M. for 30 years let me know how much room you have if you take off the back cap and have to put the little balls back in lmao

Antfarmer, I'm sure you are correct in that if I actually need to get back there, there won't be any room! I called the Bobcat dealer, the auxillary hydraulic kit is still available for this machine, $300. It includes all hoses, pipes, linkage, couplers, ECt.

From what I have read all you need is the hoses and coulplers and the linkage you can get this alot cheaper or have it made ......spray some pb blaster in there on the back of the spool there is a c clip turn that up to get the blaster in better

I have a good friend who owns a hydraulic repair shop. He doesn't do hoses anymore, but is getting some made up for me and doing the hard pipe. I'll keep hosing the spool down until I get the linkage done. Hope it doesn't blow apart on me!

Just to update this, I finally finished up the auxillary hydraulics yesterday. The spool stayed together and moved nice and easy from the first try. Lucky I guess! Now that I have them, I will likely be getting or building a brush grapple. Other than that and a log splitter, that's probably all that will get hooked to it. But, for those with similar machines with the same GPM, what can I run on this machine? I know it won't be much, but I figured on here at least I would get honest answers and real world experience.
