Curious on what others think of this combo? is the 909 a little much for a 732? What more can a guy do to test things on a skidsteer that is not in running condition? Ran well when parked kind of deal. It has the ford 98-4 motor. Anything beside a compression test I guy could/should do? Spark tester? etc. Any thoughts on what something that looks to be in fair/good condition would go for? Seem like all skidsteers I see are priced out of my budget but this could be in my comfort zone but don't want to make the guy to upset if I fire off a price too low... Thanks in advance.

a 7 series is what the 909 is sized for, should fit okay, as long as the ball mounts are available for the 732.
This one doesn't look to have them coming off the front like I seen on this one I found for sale.. http://stlouis.craigslist.org/grd/4734398702.html What exactly does it slip over on the actual machine? been looking for a pic but haven't seen one that is helping me connect the dots...

http://www.machine--tools.com/By-Manufacturer-/Hardinge-/New-bobcat-909-backhoe-attachment-hampshire.ASPX that website shows a few pics of what it looks like. i'm think they sold the ball mounts for your machine but i'm not 100% sure. hopefully someone else can chime in

ahhh great.. I see what you are talking clearly from those pics on the link. BTW. what does everyone think acceptable compression numbers for a compression test for the 1.6L that I in this machine?

I bought a 730 with forks and 909 couple years ago for 6500.00. 730 has Wisconsin vh4d air cooled engine instead of your ford engine. Works great around cabin, only setback is not much ground clearance on backhoe unit when moving bobcat with it on.

yes, that is why i don't tighten the ball connections. it doesn't move it all while using the hoe, so i know i'm doing no damage. that way when i sit in machine to drive around i just lift up.

The guy was asking 6k for both the 732 and the 909. Unfortunately it looks like the ol boy has let it sit for 3 years or so. I took the compression tester out and the #1 cyl was dead, #2 was good at 120-130 psi, #3 was questionable at 60-70psi and #4 was 110-120psi. It could just be a valve stuck or sticky.... or.... bigger problems. It's got some oil and grime on the bottom of the engine bay but I expect that fro a 30year old machine. Someone has been messing with the fuel delivery and swapped in a electric pump which I couldn't find the specs on it but it could be over loading the carb float if it's more that it ought to be. It didn't look all that bad but without being able to test it and run it. Hydros, drives and motors are all $$$$. It's a gamble for sure. He mentioned he was hoping to get 4k out of the loader, which i would have paid or close to that if i could have ran it and it operated as expected. I didn't make an offer when I was there because I didn't want to hurt they guys feelings pretty much. But I dont' think I would make a gamble on this one for more than 1k maybe 1500 tops.. It just has to many unknowns? What is the consensus of the rest of the folks out there?

Since it was all sitting so long I would gamble 3000 to 3500 tops I got my 743 running but needed work I have rebuilt the whole chain case bearings seals and chains and few hoses I paid 2400 for just the cat

if you are not in a rush, wait for a diesel to come along. they are soooo much better. theres a reason bobcat stopped making gassers 20 years ago.
I'm trying to keep gassers out of here.. I've been on the hunt for one this summer. I've got a JD 430 that I mow the grass with and it's a hoss for a mower.... And it sipps fuel compared to the Zero Turn I bought that was like mowing on a bucking bronco... UGH! The only one I seen out there I'd be interested in was a 853 which hasn't 2800 hrs and was priced at 8500 bucks..... A bit more than I'm ready to drop..... Seems that everyone wants one and is ready to pay top dollar...
