I just bought a Bobcat 440B at an auction for light work around my farm to clean stalls etc. It has very low hours 346. It has been in storage for past 10 years. It runs well but before I really use it I want to change the oil, hydrolics etc. First problem I run into is that i can't find the oil filter. Found where to drain the oil, put new oil in, but can't find the filter. From searching the web I've determined that it must be under the seat. How do I get to it? It sounds as if the cage should flip back but don't know how to do that either. I know both answers will be simple. Someone please point me in the right direction to start. I've ordered a service manual on-line but have not rec'd the link for it yet.

It would only have a engine oil filter if ordered that way or someone bought the optional kit(part #6650684) and added it. If it does have one I think you have to remove a piece of the engine cooling shroud to get to it.
Thank you for the info. I'm going to take the chance that no optional kit was added and there is no filter. I thought that it should be pretty obvious like it appears to be in other machines that i have watched videos on.

If it has one, you would be able to see the top of the filter canister sticking through lower right corner of the engine shrouding when you are looking in from the rear. Ours had one.
I would seriously consider adding the kit if it were mine. The Kohler needs as much help as it can get!!
