I have the 720 parts book, and the diagram isn't clear on the actual connections on the back of the ignition switch itself. I know I have a red, white, two purple connections. It is a standard four terminal Bobcat switch. The terminals are not marked, but there are two "heavy" copper terminals, and two "lightweight" terminals. I have purchased a new harness and the switch had been "bypassed" with a "dimmer" switch so I could not just look at the old connections. Can anyone give me any guidance on the original connections? I think I have it figured out but since there are experienced and knowledgeable people here I thought a confirmation may save me time and frustration and confirm my thoughts. Since the panel is no longer available, I had to manufacture a new one. The indicator lights/sockets are no longer available either. Does anyone know of suitable replacements? I am going to start off with 14 volt LED lights but I am not sure of their durability. I purchased both harnesses, so any other "tips" to reduce "frustrations" in the installation and connections would be most helpful.

Thanks Chandler, I don't have a "kill switch" so I am not sure how that changes things. I used a meter to check what is connected at each position of the key, and that and logic tells me the "light" terminals would be for the 14 volt starter solenoid, but yours doesn't have the second terminal in use. Hmmmmmm... guess it is a good thing I asked. I will have to rethink things.

Shoot me an email (<< click on user name for link) and I'll send you a .pdf of the wiring diagram for the 700 series machines.

Hi flyerdan, I have the 720 manual in both paper and electronic version if that is the electrical system pdf you would be sending. So I know the colors that get to the switch, I just am not sure of which "color" goes to which terminal. When I enlarge the electronic version I have, it just gets blurrier which is of no use. Also the switch (purchased from local Bobcat dealer) does not come with any markings on it - no letters or numbers on any of the four terminals. That is why I described them as "heavy copper" and "lightweight". Does your pdf clearly enlarge or clarify which wire goes to which terminal? I will go ahead and send you my scoop to speed up the process. Thanks for your response and helping me get this wiring issue figured out. I will get it, I am just hoping the frustrations will be minimal.

Hello antfarmer, Thanks for your thoughts. I can enlarge the electronic version of the manual, but things just get "blurrier" not clearer. I know the color of the wires, I have purchased a new wiring harness because all the wire colors have faded over the years behind the panel, so know which ones come from the harness, and the red from the circuit breaker, a purple from the "14v buss". I have found a lot of generic "start switch attachment" links, but so far have not found the correct one. Mostly what I have found have five terminals and letters designating which terminal is which. The switch I need is a Bobcat supplied switch that has no markings on the terminals. It has two "heavy" copper terminals and two "lightweight" non-copper ones. I have used a meter to learn the connections in each key position, but I am still not able to get a clear, concise description or photo of the attachment points with the color of wire. That is my issue. I had to rebuild the panel since they are "nla" at the local Bobcat facility and this one was pathetic. That is done, the new components are installed and wired (according to the 720 manual). The only thing I lack is an accurate schematic of the actual connections on the back of the switch - purples, red and white. I have even used the logic of the type of attached terminals to the wires, so I am closer, but I really want to know it is right in place of "experimenting" and possibly damaging the new parts or something else. So thanks again for your thoughts, I will remember that in the future when I get one of those "new fangled electronic phones". LOL

Thanks to all. I got it figured out and all is well. Time to discover my next issue for all of you to help me troubleshoot and repair. Might be a bouncing issue when moving forward... keep those good thoughts flowing! THANKS AGAIN.
