Hi folks. I am a new (used, well used) owner of a '97 eara NH L565 with about 1400 hours and has the aux hookups. I have had it for about a year and only use it on occasion for work on my property, mainly the driveway and loads of clay or gravel I get delivered. Anyway, I have two issues this last time I went to use it after it sat for about 4-5 months. 1) The EIC beeps non-stop with the lights for the Hydraulic oil filter and Hydrostatic charge pressure lights lit up. Reading other threads here there seems to be a lot of check the simple things first. So I want to replace the filter, light is on after all, and thought maybe just replace all the filters. Is there a good supplier for these things? I am having a hard time finding parts for this bad boy. as a side note the manual says if the charge light stays on for 30 seconds the engine will shutdown. This is not the case, it will run as long as I let it. Not that I tested that theory at length. 2) I had to move the SS to make room for a little Kubota to sit along side in the pole barn so I checked all the fluids and took a chance to move it out of the barn to a new home. In the short distance it beeped but drove just fine. After about 40 feet a little white smoke came from teh front left tire area. No idea what that was about but at that point I was at the new home so let it sit. The next day I checked the two set screw plugs (between the tires at the bottom of the chassis) for the oil level. Both left and right sides had oil right at the level of the check hole when I removed the set screws. Side note here is there was oil stains in the gravel under the SS from where I moved it from. Nothing huge but noticable, maybe about 16" oval. The barn is about 2' deep clay and gravel so no telling how much fluid actually leaked out over time. The main hydraulic level was low and I put in about 2.5 gallons to top that off but everything else was spot on. Thanks in advance for any ideas. PS. Sorry for the one long paragraph. I have blank lines in the typing but the preview always makes my post into a single long paragraph.

parts store will have filters, the charge pressure warning may be caused by a bad pressure sensor. I think the hyd filter from wix is around 40-50 bucks though.

I'll check out the local parts stores. My problem is this SS sits about 6-7 hours away from me so I was hoping to find a good way to figure out what filters I needed, on-line, so I could order and have them before my next tripo out there in a couple weeks. I only go out to my place about once a month and once I am there is is 30 minutes one way to the nearest town so working on the SS has its challenges. Look at something, drive to town (wasting overall weekend time), talk to folks in store, drive back... there goes about two hours simply to get a filter :). Any ideas what could be causing the smoke by the front left wheel? Is that from sitting for months? I was not working anything, bucket was up simply to move the SS. When I stop moving the smoke stopped. Move and smoke comes again. No smoke while sitting still.

I looked on the wix filter site and all of the filters for that machine are listed so once you have the wix number you can cross it to any other brand.
No idea what the smoke could be unless you have a chunk of wood jammed between the wheel and frame or wheel bearing is completely gone.

Thanks for the info Jerry. I'll chalk this up to another learning experience and get pn/s off the filters the next time I I head up to the place. As for the smoke I'll dig into that one a bit deeper when I get up there as well.

I made it up to my place last week and spent some time there. Since I figured out teh "smoking" problem I thought I would share the solution. It is a bit noobie'ish but goes to show experience plays a big part of things. The short answer is I had a flat and did not realise it. These tires are soo heavy duty that when the SS is sitting there the tire does not squish down, it looks full. Well, it was flat. A guy that was over doing some trench work and I were talking and he asked to see it drive. He laughed and said "you got a flat." I took the tire into town and they found dirt and rocks in the tire. When I drove it would cause the dirt to start to puff out looking like smoke. After a new valve stem and a tube the SS runs like a champ, no smoke :)

Glad you found the cause of the smoke :)

If you thump the tires , whether with a iron rod or something else you will hear the difference in one being low. I have one that leaks on the rim no matter what so every now and then I thump the sidewalls or kick them even and you can tell.
