Ive been searching for a good used t180 or t190 doesn't matter. Just don't want to buy something and have it fall apart or pay too much ...

I found a t180 close by that has 2800 hours enclosed rops and it looks like its in great shape im going to see it this next week... everything supposed to work. no power bob tach which is no biggie. heat and ac. Is this a lot of hours ? Also he is asking 25k for it... is this too much ? What do I need to look out for ?
Ive been using craigslist and machinery trader to shop for them. And checking out the ones nearby. I live in Georgia.

Thanks,
Tee

T180 and T190 are the exact same machine, just different arms. At least in my area, T180s are rare, everybody buys T190. As for the one you found, 2800 hrs isn't high if its been taken care of. I tell everybody buying a used piece of equipment to have a dealer inspect it before hand. I don't know how many times guys would buy stuff, then bring it in be me. Then you have to break it to them that they bought scrap iron.

Ok so I test drove the t180 this morning. It fired right up and didn't smoke or make any odd noises. Ran it for about a half an hour... there were 3 codes that come up from the get go. It said Something like drive motor not calibrated . And also Something about the left and right drive motor speed sensors not calibrated . It's a joystick machine . It ran fine though I couldn't tell anything wrong with it turning or driving in either forward or reverse . It did seem like it was faster in reverse than in drive but I couldn't really tell. It's a clean machine with original paint and needed a few small cosmetic things done to it like a door seal and some of the headliner was sagging but not much . He said the ac was blowing cold this summer but it's not now maybe it just needs freon ? Any ideas on if the codes are Something to worry about ? The ac ? It has a V2403 engine 2006 model ... what's the Hp on this machine ? Is it a good engine ? Thanks in advance . Want to buy this weekend possibly.

By 2006, I think it should be 66 HP, early ones were 56. Engine is pretty much bulletproof, just don't over heat it. As for the codes, it may just need calibrating. If it has speed sensor codes, bobcat got away from using speed sensors which I think is dumb. A controller update and unplugging the sensors is generally the fix for speed sensor codes now a days. Anyway you dice it, a dealer should look at the codes. The a/c probably has a pain in the ass to find pin hole in.

http://www.machinerytrader.com/drilldown/models.aspx?ETID=1&catid=1055&Manu=BOBCAT Go to the above link, it brings up all makes/models of bobcat brand machines listed for sale around the country. Click on T180. This will give you some leverage on pricing in your area. If the like doesnt work, then go to machinerytrader.com>skidsteers>bobcat.

To check track tension, pick the front of the machine up with the bucket. Check for a finger width of dddrop at the second to last roller. Add grease to the tensioner as needed. FYI, the service manual will not tell you anything in regards to the service manual. That info is in a different manual.

Thanks dan! I would be interested in any pertinent manuals that you guys might have! Need to brush up on the machines inner workings ...

Thanks

Hey guys ... so I took the plunge and bought the t180 . The guy I bought it from doesn't remember the password to get into some of the menus . Will I have to take it to a dealer to unlock it ? Also the ac needs recharging ... can I just buy one of those cans at Walmart and charge it with that ? Many more questions to come I'm sure . Thanks

Call the dealer with the serial number, it is very simple to look up the master code.

Thanks dan I will call them Monday . One of the tracks is a little loose, where do I add grease to tighten it up? Is it under one of the square covers on the side ? I have ordered a full manual but it hasn't come in yet ... thanks

Here's another dumb question ... where am I supposed to be able to check the hydro oil ??? I found the fill spout under the back cover but can't find the viewing glass like on my 743 or a dipstick ... thanks again . Got the a/c going today and fixed the right bob tach latch it was bent and wouldn't come up it was also dry as a bone . It appears I have an ever so slight leak coming from the right hydro motor or in the vicinity under the belly ... also the top glass leaked over time and rusted the top grate parts of the rops . Had to break the knobs because they were frozen and used a wire brush to clean the rust and old paint off. I ordered a new top glass and seal . Want to paint the rusted part , anywhere I can get some of the bluish color bobcat paint ?

so congrats on youre purchase. good unit . that is assuming all pertintent maint has been done since day one. I may presume that if cant figure out how to adjust track tension. you be newbie. my strong suggestion would be to suck it and run it by the dealer. have them download event codes and give a solid look over.( THIS WOULD BE PRIOR TO INVESTING ONE MORE DIME). don't mean to scare but its same old sad story time again. it goes like this. check it got a really good deal but I got a few issues. I want it fixed and I want it fixed right but I don't want to any money into it? SOUND ABOUT RIGHT. than it does go to dealear for whatever (ac, brake wont release. lift and tilt locking up. etc dealer spends ten minutes looking at it say dude you need a drive belt tensioner kching 400. sir you have 37 dirty air filter shutdown codes you should expect to have to purchase a new eng soon. kching o yea low charge pressure event codes. going into shutdown 40 times. hyd sys needs attention. or you can fix one at a time putting total investment into a unit that's worth twenty five into to the 35 range . now youre upside down. cant sell for what you gotta into it. > at the very least run thru dealer and get event codes. 15 mins what 25 bucks, know where you stand. it will give entire history of unit since day one. possibly maint history as well will be in dealer archives,

So I popped the cab today and found this device laying in the bottom... Any idea what it is?

Also, there is a small amount of oil leaking from somewhere on top of the turbo. Is this a major issue?

Thanks !

It is a controller. I'm pretty sure it is part of a kit to put both 14 and 7 pin attachment control connectors on the skidsteer.

Dan, Is it possible for me to replace the case drain filters without draining all my hydro fluid ? I am afraid to check them and lose a bunch of it... Thanks, Tee -
