Hey guys its been awhile! Been having an issue when trying to start the 743. I turn ignition left for about 6-8 seconds of glow plugs on cold start I can hear them click. Then all the way to the right to start and all I hear is a click in the back somewhere . Let the key return to off position and keep turning to right over and over sometimes 5-10 times and eventually the engine turns over and it cranks right up. Im assuming starter sylenoid or starter issues . All wiring is tight. Battery charged up terminals clean and secure. Went to remove the starter and take it to the local starter shop ... removed wiring and the 3 long bolts securing starter at the side of the engine and ... it wont budge. Knocked on it afew times and it wont come loose. Even sprayed where it connects with lubricant ... nothing. Its like there is another bolt or something attaching it I didn't see. Is it frozen on there ? Looks to be original starter ... Thanks!!

I would replace the solenoid first before I pulled the starter. When I bought mine 743 it did the same thing. There two solenoids for start on this machine one on the starter and one behind an under the breather beside the solenoid for the glow plugs. Follow the wire from starter to the solenoids. I change the solenoid and fixed my problem with starter clicking and having to keep tring to start it. it was about $20.00 will spent. Hope this helps.

The solenoid on the starter looks like its been changed. There are two more located to the left of the starter under the breather ... which one should I change ? Just the one connected to the starter ? or both? They both look really old possibly original . Thanks !

Also, is that something I can buy at a local parts shop or will I have to order them from online ?

If the glow plugs are working that means that solenoid is good. Just change the one for the start you can tell. The one by following the red wire coming off the back of starter to the solenoid. You can take the solenoid to auto parts store and they can match it or I bought mine from Bobčat for $21.00 but it would cheaper at Auto Parts (Napa).

Have you checked the wiring to make sure it is correct.

You can also check your solenoid by having someone turn the key to start and check the voltage on the wire coming from the solenoid to the starter if it has 12 volts your solenoid is probably good.

It must have rusted on a little, give it a bit more attention to try and knock it free. There should only be 3 bolts holding it in place.
As a solenoid test, run a wire from the +ve terminal to the small wire on the back of the starter. If it fires right up every time, the issue is the relay under the air cleaner, not the solenoid on the starter its self
