Hello My son recently bought a used LS180, and as with most used equipment there are a few issues. The instrument cluster lights (most of them) stay on all the time, even with the key off and/or removed. Of course, this drains the battery and we all know what a PIA that is to get to to charge it. He has a manual on order, but he is on vacation at this time (must be nice, huh?) and I'm trying to do him a favor and get this fixed, or at least on it's way to being fixed, while he is gone. Any ideas on the IC lights? I don't even know where to start, really, not having worked much on this type of equipment. Some background: The PO, for whatever reason, has removed the ROPS bar (whatever it is called on a NH), so that is missing. Seatbelt still intact. Everything else seems to be in order. On a side note, he'll want to replace the ROPS bar as well - is that an extremely difficult or expensive task?? The PO, in order to get it out, cut (and subsequently re-welded) the cage around the ends of the ROPS bar. Looks like we'll re-cut and re-re-weld that, since it's already messed up. Thanks in advance for the help, Tracy.

More Info: If it makes a difference, the lights that seem to be on are the parking brake light, and "restraint?" light (don't even have the owner's manual yet), as well as the fuel level, and whatever you select to display in the top display.

sounds like a bad seat switch....if you lift the seat up you should see a pressure switch underneath it. when sitting in the seat the switch is active and turns the display on. it is either bad or previous owner could have by-passed it. if its plugged in, try un-plugging it and see if that turns the lights off. hope this helps! let me know what you find

OK, this is what I found: Behind the seat there is a 2-wire harness with a plug in it, it goes to the seat belt buckle - it's plugged in an appears to be working. There is another 2-wire plug laying there beside the plug to the seat belt. It is not plugged into anything, and the business end has a contact switch at the end of it, about a foot from the plug end. This appears to me to have perhaps gone to the ROPS bar?? NEXT, under the seat: wire harness from the rear going under the seat to a switch clear at the front of the seat- this switch would be under your right knee as sitting in the seat. Odd, I said, to have a seat switch here... THen I noticed a switch in the center of the seat pan - right where I would have thought it should have been - nothing plugged into this switch. SO, I unplugged the harness from the front switch and plugged it into the center switch. Dash lights go out. Press on the seat, dash lights come on. So then (after some screwing around and wiggling of the seatbelt buckle and parking brake, I had ignition and started, and all the controls (wheels and bucket) worked. So Is this the CORRECT way it should be wired?? If so, what is the odd switch under your right knee? Thanks again for the help.

hey, not sure what that odd switch is....i dont have it on mine. from what ive gathered from reading around if you have a LS180b it may be the 2speed switch that youre seeing there under your right knee. i have also heard that some NH models come with 2 seat switches...one rear and one fore. sorry i couldnt be more help this time, but at least youve got youre skid working properly!
