Newbie here. I recently bought a 543B. It is difficult to start. I did locate the glow plugs. All are treaded on the end, they have connectors between them, but there isn't any wires connected to the glow plugs and I don't see anything close that looks like it should attach to one of them. Any help would be appreciated.

There should be 2 relays in the engine bay, one is for the starter and the other for the glow plugs. Glow plug relay should have a red wire from the battery, a black wire from ground, a light blue/black tracer wire from one of the cab connectors and another light blue/black wire that goes to the glow plugs.

There should be a wire running from them to a relay near the starter relay.

Thanks for the information guys. I located the 2 relays, but do not see where the wires go Hopefully this weekend I will have time to trace them and remedy the problem.

As you have found 2 relays, one is for the starter motor, there will be a wire from the big terminal on the relay to the starter. The other will be for the glow plugs. It should be the same side, big terminal.
If you get a helper to turn the ignition key to the left, the relay should click.

Your the most recent post for the 543B, perhaps your still checking this forum? I just bought a 543b and want to install a block heater. I have seen how you can pop out a freeze plug but the dealer wants to sell me a heater that threads in. I just do not know where that spot would be. Do you know?

The block heater for the Kubota D950 goes in a threaded hole on the right front of the engine. You can buy it a lot cheaper from here.

I think I have the V1705 Kubota, not 100% sure. Front of the engine? not so clear as to whch is the front. Closest to the back door?Just above oil pan? I see a cople of bolts that just seem to be there, but afraid to just unscrew. you wouldn't happen to know where toget or have any pictures. I have one image on paper but can't seem to locate it when I am lookin at the engine

543B should be a Kubota D950. Front of a engine is normally the fan/water pump end.

Hi, I said the other engine because that was what was on some papers I got from the bobcat dealer when he was showing me the block heater. Sounds like your familiar with these! I will take a closer look in the morning. As you might have guessed not to much mechanical knowledge Any other thoughts feel free Thanks

Risking the dumb question.....is the threaded hole for the water heater the plug just below the radiator hose that looks like it's part of a thermostat housing?

Good morning, Nice to be able to talk to another 543b owner . Not to sure about below the radiator hose because I am fairly ignorant about engines. But let me try and describe its location. After opening the back door looking at the engine off to the left side below the wire that is connected to the kill switch or shut off there is this round piece about 2 inches in diameter with about 5 screws into its face. Just below that is a bolt. Very accessible. When I removed it about 2 gallons of antifreeze came out so I am assuming I have the right spot. I in error order a 3/4 inch block heater plug but mine has a half inch thread. I am waiting for my correct heater plug to come in the mail to put things back together and try things out. I hope this description is helpful. Alan

Thanks for the info Chester. I didn't locate the round piece you described. I will have to look again.

After trying to buy the heater block for the entry point I thought was proper. I ultimately realized I must have been trying to use a drain hole for the coolant. No block heater I purchased would fit. I will try to look at things again tonight. I just would rather find the right spot to insert the heater, want to be as less as invasive as possible, rather than popping a hole into the block I am chalking this all upto a learning curve. But still frustrating

After plugging up the bolt that enabled me to drain some of the coolant ! I thought that just by re filling the coolant storage container that it would drain down into the engine but it did not. I ran it for a few minutes thinking that would suck it down but that did not make it happen either. Can someone tell me what I am supposed to do or should have done Thank you Chester
