All, I am changing the hydraulic system fluid on my 743B before winter plowing. I siphoned the tank, but I wanted to remove the return line off of the filter housing and operate the machine to complete the drain. The problem is, I need an extension on. Does anyone know if this return hose at the filter housing is a Sae or jic flare fitting? Once drained, is there any special process the purge the system with new oil? Thanks in advance.

Just so you know, draining the fluid at this point in the system is not going to get all of the old fluid out. Your cylinders and lines will still have old fluid in them. Getting at all of the fluid requires a major disassembly of the machine, and is likely not warranted unless your fluid is contaminated with something really aweful. What a lot of guys do is connect a hose to one of the auxiliary couplings, then operated the machine until it starts to spit air, and then shut down immediately. This gets 90% of the fluid in your system. Coupled with a filter change, this is about all you can rationally do, and is perfectly acceptable as a routine fluid change. HTH- SR
