Hey im new to skidsteers but have been looking to buy a used machine to do some small jobs on the side to earn a little extra income ...property clearing ..trenching.. and possibly moving into larger jobs later on. I want something that will handle a hoe attachment and a trencher well. I have been looking and the t 190 seems to fit the bill but i havr found great deals on s185s and s220s in my area but i think i would be better off with a track loader. What do you guys think should i go for the s 220 or the t 190 or should i be looking for something bigger. Like t 250. Any advice is appreciated.

For what you want to do, an S185 or a T190 should work fine. Both are very capable machines with decent lifting capacity. I know many people who earn their livings off of these machines.
As far as tracked versus wheeled goes, wheels are cheaper to maintain and repair, tracks are better in soft soil. Your choice.
My $0.02 - SR

Tracked machines do cost more to maintain, tyres are cheap, tracks, idlers and sprockets are not.
For sandy soils, tracked machines will out perform a wheeled machine every day of the week. Even areas that are prone to more rain fall.

if you can find one. a 763 f model and a 709. will get you started, be prepared to dump some cash in to get it squared away, (even if you gotta run thru the dealer prior to purchase, ) it will be money well spent. no computers. no frills, DO NOT BUY . without a compentent tech . looking over first. the 200. bucks etc can be negoited with seller. if you are set on a track loader, obtain the maintace records first. if outer hub oil or basic undercarriage maint, has not been done, youre in upside down. don't go there, specifacily drive motors hubs that have not beenmaintened will puke, 3 grand easy per side, on the other hand if they have been maintened. life be good.. NOW the pros and con cons of track verus wheeled unit . another time another place. ? as a tech this is not my forte. ask dudes who have run both. preferably guys with buisneess expearince..

That is alot of hours can still run good but would do a compression check I would stick with tires for the cost and down time if needed you could get tracks to go over your tires and take the front chains off
