I have a 2002 40XT 3581 hrs, that just stops when under a load and both control arms are being used. I pushed against a tree to test what is happening. When you push both control arms forward against a tree, the tires will not spin or even attempt to spin. If you push only the right control arm forward, the right side will spin like crazy. If you push only the left control arm the left side will spin but not near the speed the right side will. If you push both at the same time nothing, neither side will spin. There is no unusual noise from the tandem/drive motor pump area when the machine stalls, it just refuses to push hard when both control arms are being used. It does this both in forward and reverse. Does this sound like a drive motor only issue, or a drive motor/ tandem pump issue? Thank you

When you do this, does it stall the engine or does it simply not push?

There is no change in engine noise, the engine doesn't even bog down, it simply does not push.
hmmm....
Start with the simple things first, oil level and change the filter if you haven't done so.
If the pumps were running as they should, it should stall the engine if there is so much grip that the wheels will not spin. The odd thing is that it will spin if you do one side at a time which makes me think possibly the charge pump is not giving you enough oil.

Finally got the machine into the shop and looked at. Pressure tested below specs, and appeared someone attempted to shim it up. Tech said it appeared someone had got it real hot because the seals where all brittle. Turns out it was the tandem pump

Heat isn't the only thing that hardens seals, age does too. How bad was the damage on the pump repair?
