720 bobcat wont steer

I just bought a 720 bobcat with a Wisconsin gas engine, runs great, boom and bucket work fine, goes forward and backwards but wont turn, the hyds sound like they are straining when we try to turn but it wont turn, fluid is full, anyone run into this problem? thanks for any input!

Did you try takeing the brake off

yes, it will drive fine but wont turn left or right

It could still drive fine foward and back if the brake was dragging and be harder to turn .....if you put one forward and one backward at 3/4 throttle it just chatters

Have you changed the hydro filters on it

doesn't chatter but its straining like it wants to turn, I pulled the side plates off & everything looks like its in great shape & the brake is disengaging like it should, I haven't changed the filters yet, that was going to be my next move....

Make your move make sure you fill the new filter before you put it on and I think that one has the hidden brass filter that you can clean and most likely your problem

i think the hydraulic driven machines had them into the early versions of the 40s (643, 743)

filters have been changed, it turns now!!!! but I didn't see a screen on either housing, is it located somewhere else? I have the service manual & don't see any mention of it.....

Great good to hear not sure if yours has it or not on a 743 that has it it would be inside the center hose on the metal block tha comes out the left side of the pump standing in the bucket if you post your serial number and OM see it he will know
