Hi guys, im helping a friend and need some experienced advice please. We are voluntarily fixing up a 441 for a real nice old guy , he helps every one but no one helps him. Any way, we got the 441 to run and the hydraulics are functional apart from up and down. You can drive back forward, round and round, tilt the bucket but it wont go up. Is there a safety valve or switch or something, the wiring on the old machine is a mess. We just spent a day cleaning it , looks nice now. Please help, idea's answers, tip's anything. Thanks in advance, Miss Maddy xx

I don't know how new this model is, if it has electronics on the dash, it is quite possible it has a safety system to lock you out. Check for any electric solenoids on the control block, if there are, it probably does.
The main safety devices are seat and/or seat bar sensors. It will not unlock till it thinks a person is in the seat and ready to go, not trying to climb out of the cab.

Thanks Tazza , It's around about a 1980's model i think. There is no seat switch, no lap bar, no seat belts. Im thinking something ignition related, hmmmn. Thanks for input, if you think of anything else please let me know, im lost. Maddy

Found it, it has an electronic switch in the hydraulic pedal valve thingy. The "relay" wasnt earthing properly and not actuating thus not supplying power to the lock switch to unlock it.

Well done finding the issue. I'm surprised that it has solenoids like that on a machine of that age.

Thanks , The wire runs with the reverse buzzer micro switch then seperates at the control stick to go to the pedal valve. Sneaky thing. Needs 12v to open the valve.
