I need more traction for my JD 317. Will replacing the solid tires with new ones give me a lot more or just a little based on y'alls experience. Tires are worn down smooth in the center but still have tread on the side. I'd like to post a pic but don't see the option

New tyres would help, sounds like those were over inflated to wear the centres out.
Also, depending on the dirt you are playing in can make a difference. I had nice new tread filled boots on my machine. But when working in wet clay, i may as well have had slicks on it.
If you are working in sandy dirt, you may need to look at over tyre tracks? Possibly even lowering the pressure can some times help by increasing the tyre foot print on the ground. There is a trade off though, less pressure means the tyres are softer and turning can be more bouncy as they flex then slide.

Something to consider is tire chains. Bought a set for my L175 and they make a huge difference. T-R

Solid tires don't grab as good as pneumatic tires in my experience. As said over tire tracks shine in mud . If it is something you will be doing slot I would find tracks
