New tyres would help, sounds like those were over inflated to wear the centres out.
Also, depending on the dirt you are playing in can make a difference. I had nice new tread filled boots on my machine. But when working in wet clay, i may as well have had slicks on it.
If you are working in sandy dirt, you may need to look at over tyre tracks? Possibly even lowering the pressure can some times help by increasing the tyre foot print on the ground. There is a trade off though, less pressure means the tyres are softer and turning can be more bouncy as they flex then slide.
