I have a Case 40 XT skid steer that I bought used and today while I was using it I found a hydraulic leak that appears to be leaking from underneath the machine. After investigating I discovered a round plate at the rear and then further forward I found a square plate. It is at this square plate the hydraulic fluid appears to be leaking from. I would like to know if anyone knows if there is a hydraulic hose or fitting in that area that could be leaking and if so if they have any suggestions as to the best way to repair the leak. Some years ago I worked for a Caterpillar dealer and observed some of their field service guys placing heavy wooden blocks under the tracks of these machines and backing up on them to get them up off the ground to work on these things is that the recommended method to repair these machines. If so how would I acquire these blocks? Also is this a repair I could do myself? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

The 40XT range used to have issues with the drive motors leaking, you really need to get in there and give it a good clean then run it again to see where the leak is coming from.
