New owner looking for manuals for a 1350. There are a few old posts with this same request. Thought i would try for an update. Just bought this machine, and I need some help. There is a major oil leak which I discovered from the trail of oil I'm leaving all over the place, and the fact that my right foot was soaked with oil squirting out of the control unit near the floor. Prior owner said it was minor. Not if your running on blacktop. I'd really like to find the manual and service manual for this model. Does anyone have a copy available or for sale? There is one on ebay for $200, but that seems a little steep to me. I also notice that the foot controls are sloppy. Is there a repair kit for these? Machine seems ok otherwise. Squeals a lot when skidding, but maybe thats normal. Has rebuilt Perkins diesel engine, and the usual number of repair welds for a 25 year old machine.

It was pointed out to me by Dan (who has a number of these manuals) that Thomas built these machines. On their website (http://www.thomasloaders.com), they have many old service manuals and parts lists. My 1350 is the same machine as a T-133. The service manual takes it down to the last nut and bolt, and its a free download. They even have an on-line parts store. So now I know what I need, just tracking down the parts. Already found the gear pump on Loader Parts Source for $250.

Wow, awesome find. It's rare for the dealer to make service manuals available for free, especially on skid steers.
LPS is pretty good on pumps and motors, far better than the dealer.

Thomas want $700 for the pump. They told me it was an Eaton pump, so I checked with LPS, and their $250 is also an Eaton pump. I bought the cheaper one. One good thing Thomas told me is that most parts for these machines are generic, and available at most part suppliers.

That's always the way, the dealer wants an arm and some times both legs for parts. LPS are generally at least half the price of the dealer, their parts may not always be genuine, but they are built to the exact same standards and stand by their products.

The pump from LPS, a rebuilt Eaton, fit fine, but I had an small flood of hydraulic oil. Even though I was ready to cap the supply line as soon as it was loose, there was oil everywhere instantly. Now cleaned up, I don't see any leaks at the pump. Will test it under a load today, but it looks good.

Pumps are generally lower than the oil reserve tank, if you aren't quick to plug them, they can make a huge mess, as you have seen.
I believe they test their pumps after the rebuild them, it should be good to run.

Pump working fine, but it did not solve all the leaks. it looks like there are still multiple leaks, from the control valve area, and further back, the transmission area. i'm really disappointed that the leak rate has not changed all that much. I'm going to have to get underneath and see if I can narrow this down. I wish the prior owner had been more forthcoming with the maintenance issues on this machine. There is no way he did not know how bad the leaks were. Or I should have have been more observant.

I'd have a good look at the control block, they are prone to leak if the machine is older. the seals harden up and don't work as well as they once did.
Leaks are to be expected, give the area a good clean and go from there. It's hard to find them when it's all covered in dirt/oil.
