Hi I have a NH LS170 and it's been running fine until about 2 weeks ago. Now the engine just stops. Sometimes after half hour sometimes every minute.. All filters have been changed, hydraulic solenoid changed.. Oils levels are correct. I'm thinking it's not fuel but maybe a safety circuit problem...? I'm bout to get auto lec out but hopefully you guys can help. Also I think it came up as a S4 fault would that be correct?? Please help..

Does it seem to quit more on rough ground ? Sounds like the under the seat switch is losing contact.
There is a service manual available on line free, I will look for the link and post it. All I could find were system fault codes and did not see a s4 one. When you sit in the seat and wiggle a bit or bounce does it make a difference? The seat switch or the seat belt switch could do it but should light a warning light at the same time.
The system faults for oil sensors and such are all prefaced with F .
Seat switch used to be about 25 but the seat belt is a lot more good luck.

this is the link for the service manual for ls160 and 170 . I have used it for my lx665 and the only difference I could see was that the ls models do not have a separate gearcase for the drive. There may be minor difference also but for the most part it should work for you. Last time I checked the service manual was over $500.00

Was put online by skidsteer ca and he deserves the credit for it.

My LS 140 runs for exactly 90 seconds then cuts out. I then restart it, runs for 90 seconds, then cuts out. Why does it continually stops after 90 seconds? It runs great and has a lot of power, then cuts out again. Is it a safety oil pressure switch or something? All levesls of oil are up. Thanks for responding.

It sounds like a safety device to try and prevent damage. It could be low charge pressure or a bad sender telling the computer that there is an issue that makes it turn off. Senders do go bad.
