I just bought a 2004 yesterday and everything worked fine. That evening I gave it a good pressure wash. This morning I try to start it and it wont. It turns over but would not start for a long time. It finally did so I could move the machine to where I was going to work on it today. I tried it later and the same thing happened again. After a long while it finally started. I turned it off and tried it several times after and it cranked fine?

Was there smoke while cranking?
It's possible water got into the fuel shut off solenoid preventing it fully engaging. I'm not sure what engine your machine runs, check under the injector pump and see if there is a round solenoid, ensure when cranking that it pulls fully backwards.

How many volts should I be reading at the shut off?
It should be 12v i believe, but power will not always be there. It should get +12 on the pull coil for a short time when starting, then +12 on the hold when running till you turn the key off, then they should both be 0
