Hey guys what do you reccomendind as far as oil and weight for a lx565 1997? And how many quarts does the machine take? I've used 20/40 in the past, but was told 10/30 weight is fine. Thx

The manual calls for diesel grade 10W-30 for both the engine oil and hydraulics. I've been using Rotella T5 and haven't had any problems. Do not use motor oil intended for gasoline engines! It doesn't have the right additives. As far as capacity goes, there are two different oil pans used on these machines depending on when they were made. You'll have to check your machines serial number against the specs for the machine to determine exactly how much oil to put in the engine.

Thank you!
I have a new problem. I filled the oil in the hydraulic system. It starts fine but shuts down after approximately 30 sec. The display says F-04. Any ideas?

is your hydraulic tank over filled now?
as odd are it is , pending how much oil you put in it
but the same motor oil is supposed to be used in the hydraulic system on this machine
but WHO know;'s what is in in it
so, MY suggestion is, drain both motor oil and hydraulic system, use new filters and fill to correct levels on both using correct oil!
New Holland recommends this oil

Thank you very much. I will follow your advice! The hydraulic fluid was very low, about an inch from the bottom of the reservoir (with the bucket an boom extended)
After 2 gallons of oil and the boom and bucket retracted the level is about 1/2" above the max fill line.
