Hi I bought a older Gehl 5625 skid and the filters hadn't been changed in quite some time.I've drained the hydraulic oil, cleaned the strainer and want to change the filter but it is on tight"seized".It's a tight area to work in, can't get a lot of leverage on the filter wrench, pushing or pulling.Any suggestions for this problem would be greatly appreciated! Thx Randy

Or a chiesl on the top bead and hit it loose
The chisel idea might work because I only have 6-7 " of space and about 1/3 of the filter to showing if you understand what I'm saying.I was thinking of trying to split the filter by cutting into the upper bead area with my dremel tool and prying it apart. What do you think of that idea antfarmer2?Thankyou for your interest! Randy

I would stick with tapping of the chisel it will only have to just move then will be easy most filter have the thread in the center a lot of cutting but can't see it from here take a look at your new one and see do not want to damage the base

Finally I got the filter off. I was very close to using the chisel idea thank you antfarmer2 but came across a strap wrench that isn't just 1/2" tubing with nylon strap. It is a wider strap and the 1/2" drive area, gear type is 2" wide and grabs a lot more of the filter. Still it took a very hard pull to get it but the new filter is on! Wonderful!

Good to hear make sure you wet the new filter with oil and I know you will not put it on to tight lol
