This question almost becomes a religious debate. The last head-to-head comparison I saw favored Opti-Lube. I use it an haven't had any problems. Did it help? No one will ever know. But it seems pretty clear that it didn't cause any problems.

I know years ago OTR truckers used to swear by Powerserve. They claim you could tell a difference if you had a dirty injector. They make a cleaner now, but the old stuff cleans as well. I run some thru my truck a few times a year just in case. It will help the cetane numbers which helps power a tad bit.

lesgawlik may be referring to the Diesel Fuel Lubricity Additives Study Results pdf from The Diesel Place.
I've been using Power Service for years. In the study, it was rated #10.
This study was focused on additives to add lubricating ability to Ultra low Sulfur Diesel. Also note in the findings how much of each additive was added to the fuel to achieve the results.
Some of the products tested claim other benefits other than just adding addition lubrication.
Either way, it is an interesting read.

Have used power service howes and many others. A sticky delivery valve atf works as good as anything.
Also worth a mention if you have a gas machine(or Car/truck) is Techron. I am an auto tech by day, and this stuff really does work. I had a John deere 445 riding mower I bought a couple years ago. Fuel gauge wasnt reading right when I got it. I suspected the sender was gummed up. A tank of fuel with Techron added and all is good now.
