Bought an old 1737 a couple months ago. It's in pretty good shape overall, and I have used it several times already to move snow. When raising the boom, it would be very jerky, kind of like stuttering until it got good and warm and then would smooth out somewhat. I added a quart of ATF like the sticker on it says to use, and ever since then it may or may not work at all. Immediately after adding the fluid, the boom and bucket would barely move. After running it for 10-15 minutes and then shutting off the motor, I moved the levers all around to relieve the pressure like always and heard a big whoosh, like a bunch of fluid going somewhere, and after checking to make sure it wasn't leaking out all over, restarted the motor and everything worked like it should. Thought maybe it just had some air in it and it was all ok now. Used it for probably 1/2 an hour and put it up with everything working well. Next time I went to use it, and every time since, it will barely work at all. Sometimes it will get better as it warms up, sometimes it is better at first and will get worse as it warms up. Does anyone have ideas as to what to look at first? Any insight at all will be greatly appreciated.

Take a look you might have bumped the aux hydro and it stuck on
Thanks, I'll double check that now that I have the cover off, but I'm pretty sure I have moved that lever back and forth a few times while I've been fighting this problem. tonight when I started her up, at first it wouldn't hardly move at all, but after playing with it long enough to get the boom high enough to tilt the all the way back and forth several times (which took approx. 30 sec each way) it all of a sudden started working fine. Bucket would flip back and forth in probably 5-10 sec and boom would go up and down just fine. Don't know what I'll get tomorrow when I need to move a bunch of snow to get out and go to work.

Don't know for sure on the aux. There is a third lever but I don't know if that just turns the aux on or also controls it

Sounds to me like you may have an air leak on the suction side of your pump . I don't think those old case used a lift pump so it sucked the oil to the pump and the oil leval may be lower tham the pump . Hope this helps Gearbox
