The machine and the boom will not move. The Hydro charge light and buzzer are on continuously. Dip stick shows right on the mark full. Hydo fluid is clear. About two months ago it was fine, everything worked. Now it won't move. Any suggestions? Thanks

The following link was a discussion on a L555 but the setup is the same. You might remove the cap from the standpipe under the seat and check the screen to make sure it is not plugged. The standpipe has a cap which is made to accept a 1/2" drive. The large hose from the standpipe goes to the inlet side of the hydraulic pump. If the screen is open and the hydraulic pump does not pick up prime, then you will need to remove the hydraulic pump and check to see if the pump shaft is broken If the pump shaft is not broken, then momentarily crank the engine to make sure the shaft in the hydrostat pump is turning with the engine. This shaft is the one the hydraulic pump shaft fits into. If that is all good, then you will need to disassemble the pump and check for damage. If the pump is ok then reseal. http://www.skidsteerforum.com/DesktopDefault.aspx?tabid=54&frmView=ShowPost&PostID=70898

Thanks for the info. Hope it's a clogged screen. I'm worried now about damage I may have done to the pump because I let it run for about 15 minutes at an idle to warm it up before trying to move it. Thanks again.

MIKE10, I got a question for you on that standpipe cap. Do you have any trick for getting one off the wont come? I have an L785 that I have used for 5 years. I have never been able to get the cap off to check the screen. I recently tried again with my new larger breaker bar, and I cracked out the 1/2" drive part. I am afraid to put heat to it. Any ideas?

That is not a good situation. If it was out like the L555 you could use a pipe wrench, but there is not enough room in the 785. Usually if you tap on the cap while applying pressure it will break loose. Since you can not get a breaker bar on it any more, I would make sure a replacement cap is available before proceeding. I would try a hammer and chisel directing the chisel at an angle to loosen the cap when hit. Heating might help but then you are committed in the removal of the cap because the sealing ring will be melted.

You could also try welding a nut on the top of the cap.

If welding a nut on doesnt work maybe drill and tap for a left hand bolt or if there is room use a metal cutting blade in a oscillating tool to split the cap. Maybe even drill a hole in it and weld a bolt in the hole?

Same problem I had. Solved with a half inch air impact wrench. Loosened immediately. My screen was almost totally plugged with gasket debris and the cow magnet was completely covered in metal filings.
