CAT 252B engine failure

My Mitsubishi 3044 C-T engine destroyed itself when the rod went through the block. I have 2 identical skid steers which were both purchased new in 2009. This engine had 1478 hours on it and the other has 1642. This engine had less than 200 hrs since oil and filter change. The rod bolt broke. It this a common occurrence with these engines? Thanks

I see on other forums that cat owners have had some luck with cat standing good for cases like that even beyond warranty. I thought it was with perkins engines though.
